Chop celery and carrot and boil for a minute or two in one can of water with chicken stock and pour one can of tomato soup in and some chicken or sausage pieces and simmer for 10 minutes.

Make cream of mushroom soup per directions and add one cup cooked rice and one to two cups cooked ground beef.

Sounds good. there are a number of canned soups I like, but they are all very high in sodium.

I like to do that but instead of celery and carrots I use diced potatoes and instead of meat use small pasta. Sometimes I will use simple tomato sauce instead of the soup, because my daughter prefers it with the sauce.

If you're going to do that then why not make the soup yourself?

That sounds like homemade 'Hamburger Helper'. I used to love that stuff, especially the Stroganoff but they added so much MSG that it gave me bad side effects. Indigestion, cramps, itching, night sweats, vivid dreams, etc.

I use a can of diced tomatoes, corn, mushrooms, diced potatoes, small can of tomato sauce, browned stew beef (1lb), water and seasoning (garlic, pepper, salt, dash of curry) to make a thick soup. Sometimes, I add turkey link sausage for added flavor.

Heat up a can of Chunky Soup and serve it over rice made with chicken bouillon instead of water. Maybe slice up some green onions in the rice, too.

One box frozen perogies
One can Campbells mushroom soup
A cup or two of cooked chicken (optional)
One package of frozen broccoli
A cup or so of shredded cheddar or swiss

Mix mushroom soup with can of water or milk in covered casserole dish
Add perogies, chicken, and broccoli and stir to cover all ingredients in the soup
Top with cheese and bake covered at 350 for about 35 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

"Quickie' is the key word here, but I do often make my own soup but I also own a microwave i.e., "Quickie".

Saute' carrots, celery, onions and mushrooms. Add about 2 cups chicken broth (no salt) and 1/2 can condensed cream of mushrooms. Bring to boil and stir. Add chicken thighs (skin removed), a couple of bay leaves, black pepper. Adjust salt to your taste. Simmer for approximately 20 minutes. Thicken with flour/water mixture and simmer for another 15 minutes. Voila. Chicken in rich gravy. Serve over rice or with mashed, or soft dinner rolls and butter! Yummmmy. We had that two nights ago.

I love Hamburger Helper Stroganoff - but it's really loaded with sodium!

I found an easy copycat recipe - which you can even prep ahead! Will start a new thread soon!

Btw, the other half of the condensed cream of mushroom soup, I mixed it when I made meatloaf the next day.

- 1 can Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup
- shredded cheese

heat in double-boiler until hot and cheese melted and stirred in

serve over toast or rice or pasta

Sometimes I add hamburger or chicken for a change of pace.

Could add a touch of salsa for a kick, but I haven't tried it. Sounds good, though.

Again, I'm with you

I make huge batches of roasted chicken stock and reduce it heavily. I break it into 1 cup tupperware containers and freeze it.

If I want cream of mushroom, I chop up mushrooms, saute them and then add the stock and some cream.

Voila! Cream of mushroom.

A quick all-in-one soup:
I cook 1 pack of Knorr Chicken Noodle Soup, throw in frozen veggies (Normandy-style), or/and peas and corn, left over meats (if any), and a minute before the soup's done, I crush some more minute ramen noodles (like Mr Noodles) - because I love the noodles!

Next time I'll crack an egg on top and see how that goes.

You can do the same to that tomato-based variety, too.

Five minutes is all it takes.

Some commercial food have that certain flavor that gets us "hooked." Every now and then I crave for Kraft Dinner - and use Kraft Dinner to make a decent meal.

Yeah, I know. I'm just messing with you all, while maybe putting an idea into people' head on how to do it themselves (if they don't realize how easy it is)

I get the same urges sometimes.

Speaking of copykat go to copykatrecipes.com or maybe it is just copycat.com for recipes of restaurant favorites.
