Gas Station Greatness

I don't know how many people do this, but ever seen the food earners and gas stations with the fryers? I love these little dumps. But do you have any favorites from these places?

There is a local place with chicken gizzards and amazing potatoe wedges. And a place out in onward Mississippi that does chicken on a stick and great tamales. And one local place with amazing burgers.

Anyway. Any favorite foods or dives like these places?
 
There's a regional chain here that does awesome egg rolls. Other stations do egg rolls, too, but they're not as good.

Is that a typo? I can't figure out what you are talking about.


Gas stations with fryers? I think we call those "truck stops" up north here. But I still can't figure out what a "food earner" is.

Honestly I cannot remember what I was typing there lol. I mean these kinds of places aren't truck stops really. They are a regular gas station with some fryers behind the counter.

There is a small grocery store here that has the worlds best broasted chicken and chicken livers. But no gas.

Greenwood Indiana at Hamptons near 37 on Smith Valley road. the chicken is worth the drive, and the livers are better.

There can be no death fast enough if you get a hold of bad food on the road. I have a simple rule on the road...get gas at the gas station not gas and indigestion.

I almost never eat McD's when I'm in town, but I will have a QP or BM and a coke on the road. Maybe not be any better, but I trust it more.

Bah. McDonald's or is the same or worse than some gas stations. Especially the ones where they cook ya breakfast or a fried lunch :)
 
even though i'm a germophobic microbiologist, i am still intrigued by strange gas station cuisine. a local gas station in my area has pretty good pizza; another has an even better looking pizza that i'd like to try.

years ago, i used to buy club salads out of a vending machine; one of those rotating ones where you lift the plastic door after inserting your money. they rocked. i tried the sandwiches, too.

one day, i'll get really brave and try one of those roller hot dog taquito things. then i'll log onto DP to post my goodbyes.
