No cheap cheeses for moi, thank you very much.
In most parts of Europe those are cheap cheeses. The French and Swiss keep the best for themselves. See if you can find a Swiss cheese that is far superior to Gruyere and Emmental, it's called Appenzeller. You'll see the difference. Brie is a bit too bland for my taste. Try a mature Camembert or the Époisse I mentioned.

the cheese in the link looks tasty.
What I find, with my wife especially, is people judge using once sense only. If my wife 'visually' thinks it looks unappetizing then it don't get tried, very sad. Same principle with the smell. They miss out on so much beautiful food, not just Cheese.

I'm not as familiar with Cornish cheese as I am Lincolnshire, but those I've had have been terrific. Here's a Lincolnshire cheesemaker you should check out too. The Cote Hill Blue is outstanding.

I'll have a look out for the Cotehill

I'm some what prejudiced towards the Cornish Blue (the daughters best friend at school dad owns the farmI don't get as many 'freebies' as I'd like though). Seriously, I like the story behind the success. In the not too distant past he was just a run of the mill struggling farmer. Then hit on the idea, won the prestigious award and hasn't looked back since. It was kinda surreal when success came, my daughter was in their car when Sainsbury's etc gave a call wanting 'X' amount when previous attempts to lure the big chains was met with mixed response.

Great story. I'm blown away at the leaps and bounds British cheese has made in recent years. When I was a kid it was Red Leicester, Cheddar (whatever that meant), Wensleydale and Stilton at Christmas. Now there are hundreds of wonderful artisan cheeses available. I make sure I get a selection whenever anyone comes to visit.
