What did you do for a workout today?

Have a cold. Figured I'd kick it in the nads.

So I ran 5.4 miles at a fast pace. End result: After the run, I collapse in bed and pass out for four hours.

Ooops...

Yea, that sounds about right.

One hundred curls with a whiskey glass.

**** this election.

Seeing how long I maintain the following:

Alternate:

Day A, full upper-body rotation (1h or so) in the basement.

Day B, minimum 5.4 mile run at 1m/7-8 min.

Kinda regretting that I did my upper body workout this morning. 8-15" snowstorm on the way.

A couple winters back I'd lift in the morning, shovel in the evening (and this was the year where we got about 2 feet once a week). Damaged the cartiledge in each rotator cuff and they're only now back to normal. (Probably doesn't help that I do weighted dips instead of bench).

Gonna have to shovel tomorrow evening, before full recovery.

Saturday is my 'rest' day, so I just chased a toddler around the park for a couple hours.

I've always been reasonably health conscious and thought I was reasonably fit until I incorporated boxing into my fitness training just after Christmas. I'm not interested in getting involved in the competive side although the basic skills you learn are pretty much the same. The sessions are hands down the most intense physically and emotionally I've ever been involved in fitness wise and I'm really loving it.

45+ minutes on a Precor (Elliptical) machine followed by 20 minutes weights.

Repeat 3X times a week.

Yesterday, I shoveled ~10-12" of damp heavy snow, which it started to rain on as I shoveled. For whatever reason (the booze?), I had energy after finishing my driveway/sidewalk, so I kept going down the sidewalk. Ended up doing the immediate neighbor's sidewalk, and then the next neighbor over from that, since she is old. Came in 3 hours later, completely soaked through.

Today, just about everything is sore.

My daughters needed to burn some energy off so we took them to one of those indoor play places with the three miles of plastic hamster tubes. I followed the two year old around those things for about two hours. It was a surprisingly good full-body workout.

Not much of a work out, but needing to clear my head while drafting, I walked about 10ish miles in various breaks throughout the day/evening....

5/27/07 - Trails in vicinity of Chin Mnt, Vt. Morning/Aft hike: ~5 mi horizontal, 1.2 miles ascent, 1.2 descent. Late aft/evening town walk: 5-6 mi horizontal, with food/booze stops.

5/28/17 - Park @ Duxbury (Rd?) and take 6.2 miles on Long Trail to Camel's Hump peak, then back. So..... ~ 8.5h, 12.4 mi, ~1.3mile ascent, 1.3 mile descent with all the hills between the trailhead plus the peak. Outstanding views. That peak is all-rock at the top, so you get a full 360 unimpeded view (minus other hikers). There are many shorter trails to the peak if you don't want to march all day.

My wife managed it, but with a lot more difficulty during the last hour. I could've kept going for a while, though I did start noticing the strain in my ankles/knees - downhill is the worst. Some day, I'd like to try a 12-16h hike involving a peak with at least 2 miles elevation, but no straight rock climbing and instead just a lot of effort. If I managed that, well, then try for something tougher. I'd just like to test myself until I'm right up against my limit. It's been a while since I felt really close. Since HS wrestling, in fact.

5/29/17 - 2.7 mile walk around usual running circuit at home, to reduce soreness for the next day (it works/worked).

golf, pulling clubs : 120 mins
walking around my hometown : 40 mins

GF and i split a fish sandwich / loaded chips / onion rings meal as a reward. pretty fun day.

12 push-ups and 12 sit-ups.
I'm low maintenance. :)

8.1 Mile run. Was supposed to be longer but am not feeling too great.

Got back from a mixed museum & hiking trip involving Hershey, PA (well that was just to catch a show from the Guns n' Roses reunion tour - could've been 30 years ago with the way they sounded, except the now sober Slash & Duff are better than ever), the Catskills, and the Berkshires.

Some nice hikes. 10, 13, and 16 miles respectively, often combined with several miles of walking about town after dinner.

Not today... back from another hiking trip. First stop: White Mountains.

Day 1: Mount Chocura.

Day 2: Mount Washington via Tuckerman --> Lion's Head --> Summit.

Then we were off to Acadia, ME. Plenty of hikes there but they were light fare in comparison (ie, Cadillac Mountain, standing at a 1,500 ft). Very scenic though.

I usually do work out at night coz im really lazy in the morning lol

I can't imagine 8.1 miles. 3.1 miles (5k) is about my max, on a great day.

I do 3 mile runs on my treadmill every MWF.

There's this perfect circuit of 2.7 mile near me made up of four streets. There are only a handful of driveways along the whole route so I pretty much never need to stop. (I don't see much point in city runs where people have to stop at each light, etc).

So I usually run in increments of 2.7 depending on how I'm feeling and how much time I have, though obviously I can add lesser amounts by going up and down one of the four streets an extra time, etc.

I never intend to run a formal marathon, but some time, I'd like to see if I can push myself through 10 laps around the circuit without stopping.

Haven't done much yet, but this evening (weather permitting) I'll do a 30min to 1 hr walk followed by some light lifting and 35-45 minutes of cardio at the gym. Damn do I miss being able to do serious weightlifting...:(

The gym part is a pretty much daily ritual for me.

I never actually did a marathon, but I did a couple of those runs people do when training for marathons where they go to "the wall", which if I remember correctly is 19 miles. I did one of those in Hawaii, which was fun. I could have easily done a marathon back then, but my time wouldn't have been impressive.
