This is what drinking too much water during exercise does to your body

Exercise saps a lot of water from your changing body. That’s why it’s very important to drink even more water while exercising. Keep in mind, however, that drinking water before and after exercise is just as important.

Start paying attention to your fluid intake 2-3 hours before you are going to exercise. Drink 2-3 cups of water during that time, and then drink another cup immediately before you start exercising.

I know a girl who has been hospitalized twice for being overly hydrated. She basically flushed out all the electrolytes and other nutrients out of her body. Until that happened to her, I never knew that was possible.

Electrolytes, basically salts are very important to keep balanced in your brain so that the electrical signals that your brain fires can actually cross neurons.

um, yeah, i think that would probably make my stomach explode. either that or i'd look like the dude in Strange Brew after he drinks the whole vat of beer.

8 oz? I probably do twice that. When I drink anything it is in large quantity

Listen the hell up all you water drinkers. Overdrinking water for exercise is wrong. You should drink when you feel thirsty, not before. I had a urologist confirm this one time. Drinking tons of water is bad for you.

On the other hand, experts says drinking too much beer is never bad. :2razz:

I've always been confused as to how much water is safe and how much isn't - during exercise or otherwise. There's no definitive amount - max or minimum - so it's very much individual-based. "Not too much" always leaves me going "what the hell is that?"

I developed kidney stones due to dehydration.

Everyone's body is different.

My urologist said every time you pee, check the colour. It should be a light straw colour. If it is clear that is not good. If it is too dark when you check you need to drink down 8 ounces of water not coffee, not tea but water.

You should not ever feel thirsty since thirst can be caused by a variety of reasons.

My naturopath has a slightly different take and she believes we should never drink plain water because that is our opportunity to add more nutrient to the body. She prefers me to diffuse my water or always have a slice of lemon floating in it. Lemon can be washed, sliced down, thrown into a bag and then frozen to maintain nutrient

It was difficult at first to do this but now it's habit.

I also like to throw a hunk of lemon into a cup, throw in some stevia leaf and then pour boiling water on it instead of coffee at night.
