Every time I do a search on this board the last week or so, I get the 30 second message, despite not having made a search within 30 seconds, so I have to wait for that 30 seconds to time out to do any search.

Not a big deal, but really annoying.
 
"New posts" and "todays posts" count as a search.

Are you clicking them prior to attempting a search?

No, I don't use either feature.

Edit, to make sure, I waited 1 full minute after posting this, doing nothing, clicked on your name in the post above me, clicked on "find more posts by vauge"(have I mentioned how much I like your username by the way?), and it told me I had to wait 23 seconds between searches.

I am starting to think it is just me that is broke. To check if it was still a problem, I tried a search on your posts again vague, and sure enough, I was told I have to wait 30 seconds.
 
Do you have an "ad" blocker on your browser?

I wonder if it is removing the "session id" when you search.

I use Mozilla, which I think has a built in one. Sec, let me fire up IE and see if it does the same thing.

Edit: this is in IE, and doing a search for more posts on your name did not give me the 30 second wait, so it does appear to have to do with Mozilla.

Edit again: and IE looks ugly compared to Mozilla, I remember now why I switched.

And last edit: back in Mozilla, and there is the 30 second message again searching for your posts, so I think it is safe to say the problem is with Mozilla. If others are not having the problem, I would not spend much time on it, since it's just a nuisance and not a critical thing.

Try to disable the adblocker for this website and see if it helps. (little arrow beside the stop sign)

If not, for troubleshooting, trying disabling the java quickstarter throw tools > add-ons to see if it helps.

Disabling adblocker seems to have worked. Thanks!

Edit: It also seems to have fixed the problem with thanks not showing until page reloads.
