Lean: Conservative Gender: ![]() | Image and Text Viewing Problems Another forum I've posted on in the past, UNRV FORUM which is an Ancient History Forum, accommodates this problem by automatically "shrinking" any images posted on the screen but allowing the viewer to click to enlarge for just that viewing. (across the top of the photo/image is a black bar telling the viewer what percentage the image is reduced and advising them to click to view the full sized image.) The advantage is that reading any text in the subsequent additional numbered posts are not affected by the now stretched out screen. Personally, when I type text on a "stretched" screen I do "line-feeds" (hit enter) so as to fit my message into the page by-passing the distortion. I do this to accommodate viewers, because to not do so the quality of the thread is adversely affected most likely causing others to just move on to less problematic threads. I also shrink any images proportionally to a maximum of 500 pixels wide to solve the problem in advance. I also provide a second link which is more in the 1,000 pixel range for those interested. Perhaps our technical people could check into an automatic shrinkage feature for viewing feature to improve the quality when images are posted along with text in threads, which is almost always. I enjoy the DP Forum and do believe it is one of the best I've visited. It's causing me to rarely visit others simply because there is higher quality of membership and more adult posts here, even though the overall average age is probably pretty young. Thanks ... |

Lean: Centrist Gender: ![]() | Re: Image and Text Viewing Problems Good suggestion and it will be looked into. ThankQ. Whenever I run across an image that stretches the browser window, I will oftentimes (depending on relevance) remove it and substitute a text link. Is the UNRV FORUM on v-Bulletin software? |

Here's a thread (page 1; scroll to post #5 as example) on another forum that has lots of images wider than 1,000 pixels with the text remaining unstretched and is also on V-Bulletin. ... | |
