Heads up for forum maintenance?

Is there a way that the forum maintenance slow downs can be posted before the slow down?

Once in a while I'll log on and it's bloody slow. Pages don't load. I test my connection and it's normal. Therefore it's the website.

Maybe some type of PSA? "heads up, forum maintenance at XX:XX on Y Date Pacific Std time" or something like that.

The forum data base recompiles for about 5 mins every day. Beyond that, the server should work just fine.

For security reasons, I would rather not disclose the specific time-frame.

Just to add... items like scheduled software updates and hardware upgrades will always be announced well beforehand in the Announcements forum.

This forum has been slow for years, especially between 10pm and 5am, and even more so on Fridays and Saturdays. I usually don't bother even trying on Sunday nights as the pages just will not load. I've just come to accept it.

It shouldn't Jerry. Upgraded to a new quad core 2.4 processor and a new backup server about six months ago. I'm usually on 12am Saturday-12pm Saturday and 12am Sunday-12pm Sunday. DP loads fine for me. Are you on a high-speed connection?

I do have a high speed connection. This is the only site I ever have regular problems accessing. I don't know why. If it's not DP and it's not me, then I could only guess it's my IP. There may be something unique about the server's physical location, or the rout my signal takes to get there and back. I really don't know.
