It seems like the only time we lay aside our partisan tribalism and come together an a united country is after a major and devastating event..then only sometimes. I would say its try to find compromise on policy issues so that everyone will feel that their positions are represented but my observation is the political divide isn't really about what (the issues) but who (the people).

-Eliminate political parties?
-Do away with the Electoral College and elect the President by direct vote and runoffs in no candidate gets 50% +1 vote?
-Let the House of Representatives elect the POTUS and every 4 years Congressional candidates campaign in part as pledging support for a Presidential candidate making your vote for Congressman double as your vote for President?
-The loser in a Presidential race is elected VP and gets to nominate 1/3 of the White House cabinet?
-Do away with the House of Representatives and replace it with randomly selected citizens who are chosen in a way similar to jury duty selection to serve one year terms in Washington?

With the AP why is obama the focus and not the patriot act?

We all know that the US government saw the fear in the eyes of the american public after 9/11 and decided great time to remove some rights and pretend it is to protect america from muslim terrorists. So they created a thing called the patriot act, something no american patriot would have ever supported much like anything with the word patriot in it. This patriot act allows the executive branch of government to act autonomously in monitoring and fighting against terrorism. There is no real judicial oversight. Everything is done in private. Your rights to trials, warrant reviews, and privacy were demolished because we wanted to stop terrorists. The evil muslims were coming and we needed to fight them.

A few people shouted uselessly about how this took away some of our basic and most important rights, and was so vague that it allowed the executive branch immunity for what used to be criminal activity just because they had a guess you might have at one point sometime in your life been a small risk to national security. Back in the day a certain news organization named faux news thought this was great. It let their heroes of the Bush administration run off like a cowboy sherrif and take the terrorists on without the restrictions of the constitution. Those restrictions were terrible because they gave people the rights to challenge the government in a trial, and the government had to jump through a few hoops to monitor people and show a magistrate some probable cause to look into your stuff. That was quite inconvenient and faux news didn't want the government having to waste it's time in case some terrorist was mixing up some black powder in a pressure cooker. We wanted our government to be able to monitor suspicious people with connections to radical islam. There was no mention that perhaps our government would use this law on real threats to them which certainly are not a couple of radical muslims who might kill a couple of citizens.

Now those of us who shouted that this was way too much power for the government and that it would be abused by the powerful parties to go after their domestic enemies who are not terrorists are seeing a bit of poetic justice. The investigative media has always been a much larger source of terror for our government. Even though they have been watered down and bought off in recent years, there are still opponents in the area of journalism to the government, or at least the party that is in power at the moment. We knew that the administration would use the patriot act to spy on the press and those in the press who might operate outside of the regime's commands on the press. Now it seems that we have found a case that would have been quite illegal way back before the patriot act is coming to light. For national security reasons Obama has been monitoring the press, and seems to have been really watching some of the democrat's opponents over at faux news very closely. Years ago that would be wrong, but today it is national security and obama needs to stop those leaks that might help the terrorists win.

It is funny that we see that while obama was watching faux news and the Ap with close scrutiny two muslim boys who we were warned about blew up the boston marathon because no one bothered to watch them. Are we afraid the AP or faux news is going to blow things up? Not litterally, but they might blow up some controvercies which is something the people in power are really worried about. They certainly are not worried about a couple of civilian deaths. Does the media learn from any of this? Well, i have heard a lot of complaining at obama, but there is little to no pointing the finger at the patriot act which has shown to be completely useless as the executive gets to chose what threats it wants to monitor and those certainly are not terrorists. Even faux news who seems to be suffering from the president's spying is not calling for their republican viewers to demand the removal of the patriot act. The democrats who have complained about bush's patriot act are not calling on their people to put an end to it now that obama is using it to attack their enemies.

No, the media blames obama, and yet doesn't actually blame the obvious erosion of our rights which has allowed obama to do this in a legal fashion. It is great that they will destroy his reputation so he cannot be elected again, but our next president will still have the patriot act if they keep it. If they impeach obama then jope biden will be able to use the patriot act to do the same thing. This is the very thing we were warned about with the loss of liberty and rights for security. This shows the very reason why the court should be involved in the issuing of warrants and should oversee the enforcement of the laws by the executive branch. Abuses like this and the knowledge that people in power cannot be trusted with sole use of such power were why we were given the rights to privacy, trials, and judicial oversight that are supposed to put the government at a disadvantage in the first place.

I am not saying do not go after Obama, but you are going to have a hard time doing it after you give the president the powers to do what obama has done. It is time to demand that power be taken away. It is time for partisan politics of the citizens vs the politicians. It is also time for us to recognize the partisan media of faux news and MSNBC were part of the problem because they have both helped spin support for the patriot act, and blame away from it.

.“One of the things you’ve learned over the last four years is there’s no longer any room for excuses,” US President Barack Obama told 500 male graduating students at Atlanta's Moorehouse College, in a rare speech on what he sees as the obligations that young black men have to themselves, their families and their communities.

“We’ve got no time for excuses – not because the bitter legacies of slavery and segregation have vanished entirely; they haven’t,” he said. “It’s not because racism and discrimination no longer exist; that’s still out there. It’s just that in today’s hyperconnected, hypercompetitive world, with a billion young people from China and India and Brazil entering the global workforce alongside you, nobody is going to give you anything you haven’t earned.” And, he said, while being black may sometimes pose obstacles, “whatever hardships you may experience because of your race … pale in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured – and overcame. Still, the president said, “too few of our brothers and sisters have the opportunities you’ve had here at Morehouse.” In neighborhoods not far from his home in Chicago or just a few miles from Morehouse’s campuses, “too where too many of our men spend their youth not behind a desk in a classroom, but hanging out on the streets or brooding” in jail.

It’s the responsibility of the graduates, Obama said, to “be a good role model and set a good example for that young brother coming up.” Even for those graduates who arrived at Morehouse “from communities where life was about keeping your head down and looking out for yourself” and now hope to make money and move on, there’s an imperative to give back. “It betrays a poverty of ambition if all you think about is what goods you can buy instead of what good you can do,” he said, suggesting that those who go on to become lawyers “find time to defend the powerless” or that those who go into business consider “what broader purpose your business might serve, in putting people to work, or transforming a neighborhood.”

While much of Obama’s speech focused on the public lives he hopes the graduates lead, he also spoke of the importance of being a responsible husband and father. “Keep setting an example for what it means to be a man,” he said. “Be the best husband to your wife, or boyfriend to your partner, or father to your children that you can be. Because nothing is more important.” Pointing to his own legacy, Obama said it is his family that will matter most. “I know that when I’m on my deathbed someday, I won’t be thinking about any particular legislation I passed, or policy I promoted; I won’t be thinking about the speech I gave, or the Nobel Prize I received,” he said. “I’ll be thinking about a walk I took with my daughters. A lazy afternoon with my wife. Whether I did right by all of them.”

Though Obama urged the graduates not to make "excuses" in their lives, he acknowledged that he once did. “We know that too many young men in our community continue to make bad choices,” he said. “And I have to say, growing up, I made quite a few myself. Sometimes I wrote off my own failings as just another example of the world trying to keep a black man down. I had a tendency sometimes to make excuses for me not doing the right thing.

No wonder his approval rating is so high. There is no malice in that man. I salute you sir.

Politico media writer Dylan Byers sought to add context to Paul Farhi’s “glowing profile” of CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson in Wednesday’s Washington Post.

Byers suggested Farhi painted it as a David and Goliath story with Team Obama as Goliath. But there’s another Goliath, he wrote: CBS News executives who aren’t happy with Attkisson’s “Benghazi campaign” that’s “wading dangerously close” to advocacy:

The second Goliath is CBS News, which has grown increasingly frustrated with Attkisson's Benghazi campaign. CBS News executives see Attkisson wading dangerously close to advocacy on the issue, network sources have told POLITICO. Attkisson can't get some of her stories on the air, and is thus left feeling marginalized and underutilized. That, in part, is why Attkisson is in talks to leave CBS ahead of contract, as POLITICO reported in April.

Farhi mentions "internal conflicts" in the final paragraph, though he seems to dismiss them. The "internal conflicts" are indeed real -- Attkisson is still eyeing an exit, according to sources -- and provide important context for today's piece. Today, CBS News is celebrating Attkisson's commitment to the Benghazi story. A PR representative even encouraged POLITICO to write a post about Farhi's piece. But that support is an abberation. [sic]

Presidential adviser David Axelrod sought to deflect blame for the scandals swirling around President Obama by pointing out that “as it stands today, government is unmanageably big. The responsibilities and scope of action are so enormous that no human being or even team of humans could possibly govern effectively.”

Axelrod hastened to clarify that “I’m not joining the ranks of the ‘smaller government’ crowd. That would be irresponsible. Government has a moral obligation to meet the needs of the people. It can’t shirk this obligation just because its attainment is impossible.”

The very impossibility of the task was held to be further proof by Axelrod that “we must maintain course. The President may be scorned, but he is the only one who can be trusted to continue to push for this agenda no matter how hopeless and to strive with his last ounce of courage no matter how unreachable the goal. I can think of no one else who could replace him.”

“Failing to achieve an impossible dream is, in my opinion, much to be preferred over succeeding in a more modest endeavor,” Axelrod argued. “A glorious failure will be remembered long after a hundred modest successes are forgotten by our historians. There is no one more suitable than President Obama if our era is to be a memorable one.”

In related news, Press Secretary Jay Carney rejected comparing Obama to Nixon. “Look, Nixon wimped out,” Carney said. “He said he didn’t want to put the country through the pain of an impeachment proceeding. President Obama will not resign no matter what. He will, like President Clinton, hang tough. With a Democratic majority in the Senate there’s no way the GOP can convict him. The idea he can be held accountable is DOA.”
For regular viewers of TV talking heads, Eleanor Clift is no stranger. She’s been making the rounds for years, currently working for Newsweek / Daily Beast, and is a regular feature on The McLaughlin Group. It was on the latter program where today’s feature video unfolded, with the venerable Ms. Clift once again tangling with Rich Lowry.

In this episode, the subject of the IRS investigation is once again on the table, and Clift has the clarity to cut to the heart of the matter. Her argument boils down what surely seems like a clear cut case of, “move along. Nothing to see here.” Because even if what everyone is saying happened actually did happen, then it was just some low level rogue tax drones. And it’s not like anybody broke any laws, right? So what’s the big deal?
Presently, the Internet is awash with liberal attempts to blunt whatever affect the scandal surrounding Benghazi may have on President Obama and Hillary Clinton. Bettybb, our resident liberal, left a comment yesterday with an embedded link that supposedly proved Benghazi was a completely manufactured scandal, perpetrated by the GOP to make it look like the Obama administration, including Hillary Clinton, was up to their eyeballs in a coverup of what happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.
The story she linked to is based on a report from CBS News. In that report, Major Garrett makes the claim that unnamed sources have told him that Republicans on Capitol Hill leaked emails to the media that had been altered to show the White House and the State Department in a bad light on Benghazi. The basic premise of the liberal supporters of President Obama is that the only coverup about Benghazi is the one that has been created by the GOP. As I said in the first sentence, the Internet is swarming with this story. It is all over the place, with links from The Huffington Post, CBS News, Think Progress, Mother Jones, etc. That's what I found during my first Internet search of the story. It was only on the third page of that search that I found a report that tries to give some real context to what may have happened. The rest is all just a bunch of "GOP alters emails, they are evil, blah, blah, blah".

Now that the low-information/low-knowledge segment of the country is waking up to what conservatives have been pointing out since Barack Obama was first sanctified by the left, we are being treated to the spectacle of a liberal epiphany. The underlying theme that connects Benghazi to the Tea Party, to the subpoenaing of AP phone records, to Z Street, to Nakoula is that they all have challenged the administration's "official truthOne can only hope that Obama's thuggish creation and corrupt defense of his "official truth" will anger, disgust - and frighten - all Americans. Obama scape-goated this guy Nakoula so he could obfuscate the truth about Benghazi. No where in the 100 pages and CIA memos was the video mentioned. It came straight from the W.H. Can we all agree that the "Official Truth" coming from the White House is bad fiction. The rotting fish begins from the head.

What do the Benghazi cover-up and the IRS scandal have in common? They were both about winning elections, under false pretenses.

Winning elections, after all, is something Barack Obama is good at. He obviously loves campaigning and delivering grand orations to enormous adoring crowds.

He loves it so much that he flew off to Las Vegas to campaign the day after the first murder of a U.S. ambassador in 33 years.

What actually happened in Benghazi was out of sync with the Obama campaign line. Osama bin Laden was dead. Al-Qaida was on the run. The global war on terror -- well, don't call it that anymore.

A deliberate effort to mislead the voters was launched. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, White House press secretary Jay Carney and the president himself talked about a spontaneous protest of an anti-Muslim video -- even though no evidence of that came from Benghazi.

The White House and the State Department altered the CIA's talking points -- not just in one minor particular, as Carney claimed, but through 12 separate versions. The Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice, armed with the talking points, spoke sternly about a spontaneous protest and an anti-Muslim video on five Sunday interview shows.

(Excerpt)
Surely even the most lamed brained Progressive can see that Mr. Barone is correct in his article. IMO Obama and his inner circle of co-conspirators knowingly kept the knowledge of these incidents from the people.

US House Rep Vern Buchanan: Were you terminated or fired? What happened there? Or are you getting ready to retire?
Steve Miller: I was asked to resign and I will retire.
US House Rep Vern Buchanan: Okay.
Steve Miller: Under the civil service rules.

[. . .]
US House Rep Tom Reed: As you sit here today, you were not fired from your job. And I can tell you, in my private experience, you would have been fired on the spot. And all you were allowed to do is resign and retire? And now you come here and try to say I did the honorable thing by falling on my sword' when nothing bad is going to happen to you. You're going to get your full benefits. You're going to get everything that's associated with your retirement as an IRS employee.
Steve Miller: [Laughing] Nohting bad is happening to me, Congressman?
US House Rep Tom Reed: Financially. You're allowed to retire. That's the level of accountability in Washington, DC now. You're still acting [Commissioner]. You came here on the taxpayer dollar today. You're getting a paycheck for being here today. Correct? Correct?
Steve Miller: [Pause] Correct.

The house GOP is once again showing they don't give a **** for the poor in this country many who are working and are being underpaid while food prices go thru the roof. If the GOP really wants to get people off food stamps then find out why food cost so much and why their friends in business are under paying their workers or not hiring at all.

The GOP wonders why they are hated so much and then screws over the poor like it is Ok. Talk about not caring for people. If they ever want to win the whitehouse again they need to start looking at their own actions and their nasty attitude towards people thru no fault of their own needing help with overpriced food and poor wadges.
