Here is an interesting one. This is some riposte to those (Gardener, Grant please note) who claim that:

BBC News - Three more charged with stirring up homophobic hatred

The police, CPS and LGBT organisations are not bowing to the Islamist agenda. I await any evidence that any left or liberal political parties or pressure groups are organising on behalf of the Islamists who have been distributing this vile literature.

No, but I was referring to mainstream Leftist opinion, so that rules out Gorgeous George. Ken, I am completely confident, will be supporting the moves to defend LGBT people, as he always has.

I have never said Islamists have hoodwinked LIBERALS. True liberals have not been hoodwinked. It is the dogmatic, illiberal portion of the left that has been hoodwinked.

I apologise. You were not referring to all liberals, you were referring to all of the British Left - not just "the dogmatic, illiberal portion of the left", as you claim here. This is precisely what you said, in full:

Took long enough. But the likes of the EHRC were damn quick to back militant gays against the Christian bed and breakfast owners' marrieds-only policy on their bedrooms, or the Christian adoption agencies for refusing gay adoptors on the grounds that such artificial families were un-natural.

Still, at least the ball's rolling for the real homophobia it seems. Now for a wider crackdown on that, as well as the vicious Islamic antisemitism while they're at it.

...and should the British left decide to adopt liberalism as its guiding principle at some point in the future, such a statement will be unnecessary.

I wonder why the UK needs a separate law for threatening people and what the penalty for breaking it is.

This was covered in another thread recently. Personally I don't believe that we do need separate laws for "hate speech" there are plenty of laws covering it. Certain groups in the UK have had long standing separate legislation to cover "hate speech" and the government gave in to pressure from other groups to equalise the law. They should have equalised the law by removing the group specific "hate speech" legislation not adding other groups under its protection!

I agree with the first part of your conclusion, don't believe we need laws for hatespeech either. I just think that threatening people, by calling for their heads one way or another, goes beyond hatespeech. A few hrs of community service doesn't cut it imo.
