Recent polls suggest no decisive desire on the part of the public to hurl ourselves with lustful abandon at the establishment of full European integration, so it's not just me.

Who the hell knows what goes on the minds of politicians? Vested interests are the name of the game as anybody knows, else there would have been no military campaign in Iraq for example. (And remember Helseltine and pals selling arms to Iraq, plus Wilson and chums swapping aeroplanes for scrap metal and rotten fruit with Ceaucescu? We never wanted that either!)

They're the ones PeteEU calls 'specialists'. They knacker the country and work against our desires and they're the specialists!

Dissenters only ever have opinions, funny that.

The Lisbon Treaty gives the EU the power to ban the three main parties of the UK if it wishes. Can't see it doing so, to be honest, as these are pan-European parties and thus theoretically protected, but provision is there anyway.

It also helps legitimise the EU as a military power.
