I haven't been here for a little while, so let me make up for it by publishing a little 'debate' video. It contains comment messages from two super-duper Lefties trying to show me up for the reactionary toad I supposedly am!

My avatar is 'The Dustpile' and I reply to the users 'Supahdupahguy81' and 'Communist17Mex'.

If you have trouble reading the text, click on the underlined title above the window. This takes you to Youtube, for you to view in its original high resolution.

(Warning: some language, though not from me!)

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhV7dL_AfEc"]YouTube- RED LETTER BOMBS: Loony Lefties Chew Me Out![/ame]

VIDEO TEXT:

Liberal-Left bloggers often republish from the newspapers letters and comments by Right-wing members of the public. Not because they want to gauge public opinion on the issues of the day but to take the mickey.

Often the letter writers are too angry or silly to think straight; but the bile is poured even with people who are logical and rational. Indeed, bloggers have recently lambasted website readers for sending in snow scenes requested by Sky News! Anybody non-PC gets a shovelful of hate if they dare poke their heads above the parapet and say something obviously at odds.

However, this video helps prove the Left itself is far from immune to extremists and berks in general. I've received quite a few funny, provocative and jaw-dropping comments when I've promoted my videos elsewhere on Youtube. I think I should start collecting them and I present two examples here.

Different points of view or just plain mad?

Beware of the world of YouTube debates. It's an alternate and sometimes all consuming subculture. Just my opinion, from experience with a family member who became a huge YouTube personality. It can suck up your life.

I enjoy the complaints by and large. Sometimes they're personal (in which case they're deleted), but usually the messages are supportive, eye-opening, funny or just plain ridiculous.

I don't expect to get more than a few viewers. I'm happy enough if my vids make the century in less than a week, after which the viewers only trickle in anyway.

I've got a nice little fanbase though and I'm already up to the limit I can manage to keep it all trundling.

And so to close, here's some light relief: My mock-up of what Quincy may have looked like had the franchise been bought up by a software company, as were many others.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTwFLsaMDFQ"]YouTube- Quincy 64![/ame]

Had Quincy graced the Commodore 64 for real, I expect he would have been placed to solve a special computer-related mystery. Perhaps up a back alley, up his back alley, someone would have been done in by an extra-sharp poisoned prototype RAM stick. From that opening our hero would have to track down the business rival who brandished it. Or some such rubbish.

Or trolls, you know, trolling you.

Youtube debates are hardly a fair way to show any part of the people on any end of a political spectrum.

never get into a youtube debate....NEVER get into a youtube debate...NEVER EVER EVER get into a youtube. If you do, your brain will forever be damaged

Don't worry, don't panic!

What I do is debate a bit, wait awhile and tack my last response on as a normal comment instead of a reply. That does the job. Either that or leave it open-ended if it drifts on for more than 5 or 6 comments. I'm in no mood for a long battle.

And I don't think the ones I look at are trolls. Some of them really mean it, as you discover when you follow them up.

(Anyway, I don't see Youtube debaters as being all too different from the ones on here and I survive!)

Nevertheless, warning heeded.
