Not according to the DfEE 1998 Value Added study! Comparing non-selective and selective schools they find a greater % of "most able" pupils from selective schools score in the worst perfomance category. A much greater % (33% compared to 15%) of students from non-selective schools achieve the top 2 performance categories. 2. Grammar schools do better on average
Not according to performance leagues! Areas with mainly comprehensive schools had more "well performing" schools than areas characterised by selection. |
You seem to have this hang up about Grammar schools. What your problem is once again your judgement is severely clouded by your deep rooted socialists beliefs, however misguided they are. Grammar schools [state funded] in my city out perform the comprehensive [state funded] in all league tables. No matter how you look, being in a classroom where nearly every pupil has a common philosophy, [a hard work ethic] gives the child the opportunity to fulfill there academic potential, fact.
have a look at the following table, the "three" Grammar schools out perform all comprehensives within the city of Plymouth,
Devonport High School for Boys
Devonport High School for Girls
Plymouth High School for Girls
BBC NEWS | Education | League Tables | Secondary schools in Plymouth
Another interesting fact for you the last intake [at Plymouth High School for Girls] 27% of pupils were in receipt of free school meals, obviously low income families.
You will probably retort with, "
I prefer to look at it this way or that way etc etc but results don't lie, its Black and White.
