A thread about Lithuania and Soviet symbols somehow demands you make remarks about Jews. It's just fascinating how you expect people to have the false impression of you that you want them to.

What gives you the idea that this is a false impression. |

Because it was like that until the socialists arrived

Because it was like that until the socialists arrived | If its the child's choice, the yes. I remember wanting to work when I was 14 and 15 to earn money. However, and let me make this clear, I do not support children being "forced" to work by parents and shop owners like it was back in the old days. Then its not a social issue, its a criminal issue. |

Until socialists arrived in 1880, thousands of the children worked in coal mines 12 hours/day. Adults worked even more, and could just survive with their wage (60% of their salary was needed to buy food).
Those who had an arm or a leg crushed by a machine were just fired without any compensation.
It was the socialists who limited the work day to 12 and then 10 hours/day
It was them who forbad children labor
It was them who gave workers the right to strike and a minimal wage
It was them who brought universal vote right (at least in my country)
You may not agree with "too socialist" policies, but some socialism was really needed

I nor anyone here would disagree that Socialism kicked out some of the more inhumane ways of life and work.
Perhaps as I would guess you consider yourself a Socialist, you would like to answer the following question.
Name me ONE (One will do nicely) Nation that has since being released from control (open or overt) by the Soviet Union (Russia), would seek to be re-united with either Russia or a Soviet Union type of Government.
I would agree that they may have stuck with a vague style of Socialism. |

You may not agree with "too socialist" policies, but some socialism was really needed | I thought those were the "progressives" or "Reformist" policies. |
