Poverty has never been confined to "are you starving to death?".
We have three methodologies. You may argue that relative poverty confuses poverty with income inequality. However, subjective poverty (normally adopting a "consensus definition" of absolute poverty) tends to produce similar poverty thresholds. Then we have absolute poverty. I've already referred to the findings from that methodology: Breadline Europe, using the definition spawned by the World Summit on Social Development, found absolute poverty to be rife in Britain
