Spanish police have arrested two people in Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta accused of connections with Islamic militants, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.

The two detained had been through a long radicalization process and formed part of a group which was thought to be at an advanced stage of preparation for potential attacks, it said.

Police were searching six locations in relation to the arrests, the ministry said.

Spanish police have arrested 180 people accused of connections to Islamic militants since raising the country-wide security alert to one below the highest level in 2015.

Spain has seen several recent cases of Muslim terror plots, despite Muslims being only 2.2% of the population there. By comparison, Muslims make up 7.5% of France, and 5.8% of Germany.

Thoughts?

Good police work. It's good to hear about thwarted plots and attacks.

Hardly surprising.

And if it's not plotting a terrorist act, sexually assaulting women, or even petty crimes, it's taking massive amounts of government money out while putting very little back in. Not to mention people from that part of the world by and large vote for bigger government and to the left.

I'm ready to be lectured on the virtues of multiculturalism but more than likely I'll just get called a racist.

It's unfair?

I don't think you need to worry about that...since you're always the one to use the word racist, first.

180 persons have been arrested. Is that a lot or not?

180 persons arrested in connection to Islamic militants since 2015.

That might seem like a lot if they were actually plotting to commit an attack...but not if they were just arrested for having connections to militants. That sounds more like a preventative measure.

If a citizenry starts arresting people for contacts with unsavory individuals, I certainly want to be the guy that defines "unsavory".

I'd suggest that just reinforces Moots point. Good Police work as it's good to hear about ANY thwarted plots and attacks. Isn't it?

Or better yet, let the dictionary do it for you. That way, no one has to guess you're talking about.

Do you carry around your own body chalk? You play the victim quite well, I'd be surprised if you don't.

That depends on the level of infringement on citizens' rights.

But my question was more, whether 180 was a high or comparatively low number, when set off against similar countries.

If you consider the etymology of the word liberal, you might understand, why that is no good.

Perhaps you could investigate that yourself and post your findings if you have a desire to discuss it. Just a thought of course.

I did actually look to see, if I could find a corresponding number on the Statistics site of the German Innenministerium, which is responsible for crime prevention and the police. I could not. The category does not seem to be officially denoted. All there seemed to be were say the number of politically motivated crimes with bodily harm involved (2015: 3.007) and the like.

That is why I wondered, if someone had comparisons. You see, a societal number is not really very valuable unless it is in relation to others.

All valid points. I've known immigrants in the states who've told me they think we're crazy for giving them so many things for free. I agree with them.

It's likely to be a non-muslim calling you a racist, and we all know that all white people are racist like we've been told. So just call them a racist when they call you one :2razz:

One thing that is interesting as that the terrorists are quite successful at changing the opinions in populations about the rule of law and how civil rights should ie should not be applied. The shifts to quite a different interpretation of basic rights, to whom they apply and how they should be applied is worth researching.

They have also had terror plots done by Catholics, which technically make up most of the population.. hell there was a terror campaign in Spain by Catholics going on for decades and it is technically not over yet.. so...

I don't think the other terrorists were anything but incidentally chatholics. The reasons were more about political. It was much like in South Tirol or England.

Right next to his Koran.

You live under a rock for the last 50+ years? ETA?

Now prove they are motivated by Catholic doctrine. Terrorists are motivated by Islamic doctrine, that has been proven.

Wait what? Terrorists (as in all in the world ever) are motivated by "Islamic doctrine".. whatever that means.???? Prove what "Islamic doctrine" is first before we can continue with this discussion.

I and others have. You need to pay attention.
