The US president-elect, Donald Trump, has suggested that the Ukip leader, Nigel Farage, should be the UK’s ambassador to the US.
“Many people would like to see [@Nigel_Farage] represent Great Britain as their Ambassador to the United States,” Trump tweeted on Monday evening. “He would do a great job!”

HAHA, yea right. May was not amused..

And of course Farage acts like a spoilt child..

So here we have a new US president meddling in the affairs of a sovereign nation before he even takes off.. to push for one of his friends to a top job in said nation.... absolutely pathetic and the US should be ashamed over this..

The UK should be ashamed of the Guardian. It is peddling the same kind of crap that won Trump the election. I hope it yields the same results among the UK's voters.

Meddling? I would have thought telling someone with whom you thought you might be able to work well with was okay. And it isn't so absurd. After all, you don't like him and therefore cannot appreciate him, but he has been rather successful. I bet you couldn't even enjoy his humor in his parliamentary debate. ;)

:boohoo: I wished I'd bought stock in Kleenex before Trump was elected. I'd be a rich man by now!

I think the best place for him is in the U.N. It was always great to listen to him call out all their bull****.

I didn't see complaining when Obama went over and told the UK not to vote for Brexit.

I saw plenty of complaining from Trumplites and similar, and yet when the Furher Trump does the exact same... "crickets"...

That's possibly because one was a foreign president telling the citizens of another nation what to think and how to vote vs suggesting a person for a governmental appointment that directly relates to said foreign president. It couldn't be that, right? Nawww...they are TOTALLY the same thing! There is no false equivalency here.

Much to do about nothing.

For one thing this wasn't a president spouting off, it was (still) a private citizen who will remain such until January next year.

The bigger headache in Washington will probably be security circles determining how best to jump on his twitter account, once he's POTUS.

I vaguely remember something of Obama having his Blackberry confiscated in his time.

~ suggesting a person for a governmental appointment that directly relates to said foreign president ~

The UK already has an ambassador in post, by what right does an upcoming leader ask another nation to push out someone from their job that is doing a competent job just so his foreign stooge can be placed in that post?

One of the main planks of the Brexit campaign was not letting foreign unaccountable bodies tell British leaders or people what to do so it's heavily ironic that a man we cannot vote for or against wishes to put in place at his own request, a person who would have huge influence in UK affairs with an overseas nation.
