What's behind Ankara’s 'deafening silence' on Aleppo?

In the past, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan never missed an opportunity to thrash Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, calling him the “brutal dictator who kills his own people.” These days, however, Erdogan has been noticeably low-key in his criticism of the Syrian leader as his regime pounds Aleppo and, according to independent observers, commits war crimes. It is not difficult to fathom the reason behind Ankara’s reticence to take a tough line in keeping with its stance against such attacks in the past: Russia is also involved in the brutal operation against Aleppo....

Extension of Turkish state of emergency fractures 'Yenikapi spirit'

More than 30,000 people have been arrested, while 70,000 are under investigation, for their alleged links to the US-based cleric, who the government says was the mastermind of the botched putsch that left more than 250 people dead. A day after the government decided to extend the emergency rule, 12,000 policemen, including 2,500 chiefs, were suspended, in addition to the 100,000 people already dismissed from public jobs since the coup. The state of emergency helps the government move fast, allowing it to issue decrees that do not require parliament’s approval.

The magnitude of the post-coup purges and arrests has alarmed Turkey’s allies, prompting repeated calls for restraint and the respect for rule of law. But, Ankara says, the West does not understand and underestimates the threat the Gulenists pose to the country. It dismisses accusations of human rights violations....

Turkey is waiting for the other shoe to drop. Turkey has invaded Syria and when the Terrorists are driven out of Aleppo, the Turks will be next. The Turks attacked the Kurds that were allied with USA forces against Daesh and having great success. It goes without saying that Turkey has been a prime supporter of Daesh terrorists. They routed US/CIA supplied arms from Libya to Turkey to Syria and have openly allowed ISIS terrorists to cross the Turkish border in both directions. Turkey also facilitated ISIS economically by allowing ISIS OIL to be sold through Turkey, where all those tanker trucks were going as their ultimate destination and to bring back the OIL money to fund ISIS terrorism. Simple fact. If Turkey is NATO and supports ISIS, then NATO must support ISIS. If USA/CIA (Benghazi-Stevens) sends arms to ISIS through Turkey then the USA/NATO/Turkey supports ISIS. If USA allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar support ISIS terrorists, then the USA is allied with Terrorists. Simple, eh?
