I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. A quick google search reveals that the U.S doesn't make it to the list of top 10 countries with the highest standard of living.
Have you checked out the other countries on your list, their business models, population criteria etc?
Comparing a country that is smaller than a New York borough with a country of over 300 million population spread over almost 10 million square Kilometers or one with two income flows with one that has every type of flow going in and out with one another, you will find you are chasing an absurdity.
So, don't believe that one index can measure the quality of countries. It is almost always a false argument.
