European leaders push Angela Merkel for joint EU army

Eastern EU leaders call for joint army at summit with Germany

EU-army.jpg

A NATO/EUFOR ceremony

I personally would rather have the Europeans dedicate themselves to strengthening the NATO alliance.

Just pointing out that the two leaders.. yes two .. come from former Soviet satellite states, and are far right fascists who are pushing their countries further and further away from democracy. They are also anti-Nato.. so..

It is about as dangerous as can be imagined and would increase the challenges of the century considerably.
But it is quite a logical conclusion. GB thought NATO the better alternative as it forced the US and Europeans to coordinate, reduced duplication and was an unassailable block. Separation will create a further pole in the growing multipolar structure of world order and make great war more probable. But it became more probable as Obama showed that the US was no longer dependable.

I would rather see 'NATO' wind down on Europe and re-focus on expanding east to counter China. as for an EU army, that's going to take a major surrender of sovereignty by all party nations.

NATO is a Europe focused instrument that cannot easily be refocused on another region, as the members are mostly European and for 50 years have only been interested in their very narrow interests at least beyond hit air.

This is news to me, that some european countries want to exit nato. of course, who needs nato when you have the united nations - if there was only one meeting for the countries of the world, then communications would be easier, instead of needing people to talk to others and then only getting an answer.

So, nato can go to hell for all i care!

Of course, there should be no leaving nato by anyone unless they are represented elsewhere. i am suggesting expanding on the international criminal court instead of investing in nato. i know nato brings intelligence to the west, but, this intelligence could be gathered by a world body - an expose on what is going on each day at various times.

Also, the new body could be open all hours of the day, to let news come in, or, open at american times to assess the news and intelligence of the previous day. of course, this would mean delayed actions take for cases, so, there should be, in my opinion, three shifts of the new body to work all day long, of course.

Or, we could change the name of nato? this would make room for a world body that will receive more funding from around the globe, of course. that or we could just make it more inclusive and change the name. this will encourage people to meet there - i am suggesting two chairs for each country in this new building, one to represent the military and one to represent intelligence, of course, unless they can find someone presentable to deliver both, yes?

Why do these countries want to leave nato? countries hardly complain about costs when they prevent wars, so, including everyone in this will only strengthen the stance of 'the body.' if they want to leave, they are tired of red tape, or, they are trying to craft a 'quite riot,' seeing how many people will follow them, yes? this would make sense, and, this is down to leaders and military people as to where this stands, so;

I am suggesting making new world bodies! this will see one nato for armies, one market overseer body, expand the international criminal court, and interpol should be expanded to represent in every country.

To keep countries from leaving nato, there should be more justification over the markets and economies of these countries - they probably do not have a very powerful economy, yes? this will see their country drop in the eyes of the international monetary fund or i.m.f. as they will have no security themselves. this will mean an immediate down grading on their money, and a steeped up payback of the money to the i.m.f. as there will be less security for those countries, yes?

And, the countries leaving are basically saying they want to attack someone. this is like leaving a camp fire - people have these meetings for peace and security, not because they disagree with the stances of protecting certain countries over others, so;

Protecting america and the west, and listening only to them might be a bit too much to ask, of course. if they were to be heard, at this new u.n. type body, working the same as the united nations, then they would surely want to stay, yes?

Why do you think these two nations specifically want an EU army? In the short term, I know the Visegrad group wants something done to create border patrols against more migrants but long term?

The nations dont.. the 2 nationalists leaders want.. and it is to cause conflict in the EU pure and simple.

Could you elaborate? I'm not expressing an opinion, just information gathering.

Okay it is pretty simple

Miloš Zeman, the Czech President is a populist and nationalist. While he is not the worst one by a long shot, he has an anti-American, anti-Europe pro Russia view on many things. He among other things banned the American ambassador for visiting him and other things. He was against migrant quotas in the EU and other EU specific things. He is however a figurehead with no real power, but he loves to be the center of attention and to be at odds with pretty much everyone. He is also heavily linked with massive corruption.

Now..

Viktor Orbán is a dictator, pure and simple. He is a Hungarian nationalist has enacted legislation that discriminates against non-Hungarians and non-Christians. He is anti-EU on so many fronts, and pro Russia on others. He is a populist that has no problem being an anti-democrat. His main goal seems to be at odds with everyone (like Zeman), and also linked with massive corruption in Hungary. But since he controls the legislative and the judiciary (he fired all the judges that stood up against him), then he wont get busted for this this time around. I remember reading a Bloomberg article that looked into why there was so little investment in Hungary from outside... and the answer was simple. Any project that forigen companies bid on, the contracts were given to the same small group of Hungarian companies that were either directly controlled by Orban or by his closest advisers/friends. So as one comment put.. why bother if they already knew the outcome.

So basically you have two nationalist leaders spewing **** they have no control over, just to get controversy and conflict in the EU (and make it unstable) and focus on themselves.

Oh and if there is one country that will leave the EU "soon", it will be Hungray as the ground work is being laid by Orban and his people. Did I mention he controls all the media in Hungary ... well pretty much? So we shall see. This is a classic move by both of them to deflect away from domestic issues and cause controversy in the EU or other organisations. They have done it before.
