Photographs have emerged of armed French police confronting a woman on a beach and making her remove some of her clothing as part of a controversial ban on the burkini.
Authorities in several French towns have implemented bans on the Burkini, which covers the body and head, citing concerns about religious clothing in the wake of recent terrorist killings in the country.

The images of police confronting the woman in Nice on Tuesday show at least four police officers standing over a woman who was resting on the shore at the town’s Promenade des Anglais, the scene of last month’s Bastille Day lorry attack.

After they arrive, she appears to remove a blue long-sleeved tunic, although one of the officers appears to take notes or issue an on-the-spot fine.
The photographs emerged as a mother of two also told on Tuesday how she had been fined on the beach in nearby Cannes wearing leggings, a tunic and a headscarf.
Her ticket, seen by French news agency AFP, read that she was not wearing “an outfit respecting good morals and secularism”.

You have to be ****ing kidding me? :doh
In 2016 police are now making women take off their clothing at a beach because they are wearing too much? French men are now dictating to adult women what they are and aren't permitted to wear, justified in the name of feminism. This is sliding down a slippery slope fast.

France is trying remain French. I can see their point. Either get with the culture or get out. It is not fair, but life is not fair.

Imagine a French woman in Saudi Arabia wearing a two piece bathing suit. She would be flogged in the public square.

From the pictures no such thing happened. She was told to remove the head scarf and shawl, and given a fine. It is against the law to wear a "burkini" on French beaches.. and I support that. There is no point at being at the beach if you are covering yourself up in that way. Want to go in water.. do it at home in your own private pool or the tub.

It is directly counter to French values of freedom.

How about just swimming? Who cares what they wear? Should we ban women who wear shirts while swimming or one-piece bathing suits?

I get that. But if Saudi's can regulate swimming attire, so can the French.

Should we execute people without judicial process as well? Should we ban women from driving? That is a horrible argument. If you regulate clothing, the French are no better than the Saudis.

The whole point is the Burkini ban is completely unjustified. If I was sitting on the beach with a long sleeve shirt and jeans should I be told to remove them?

Yea, I'm sure thats exactly what the secular French state wants to be like, a Islamic-Theocratic Monarchy.

Bigotry comes in many and shifting guises. That is why it is so stupid of a citizen to demand that constitutional rights be broken in her own cause. The precedent leads on and on till the police are forcing girls to take off clothing on the beach so politicians can get more of the xenophobe vote.

It depends. Do those articles of clothing violate statutes? Otherwise, when in Rome, do as Romans do. If these terrorist sympathizers don't want to blend in with French rules and customs then they can go back to the beaches of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.

Nobody said that there were no bigots and xenophobes that support suppression of religious ritual and practice. Only, those ones are even worse than the girls that go swimming in head scarves. I mean, a Hermes print is hansom on the beach; but in the water?

Each nation creates their own laws. If you have a problem with that the rules and regulations of France, then perhaps you can join ISIS and attempt to overthrow the French government.

But in that case, don't believe the Romans that they respect free practice of religion or even free expression of opinion. Because obviously they do not.

They could have weapons or bombs under that layer of cloths. And they can swim in that prison suit at home or at a private beach/pool.

Absolutely. And by laws of this kine, you can tell how many bigots are probably in the population. After all, Holland seems to believe he must introduce such filthy laws to get the votes.

It is counter and the only reason it is being supported is discrimination towards Muslims.

That is pretty much true of all clothes, should they be banned from wearing hoodies, coats, jackets, pants with pockets, baggy t-shirts, etc.? You know what everyone should just be forced to walk around naked following your insane logic.

They could have weapons or bombs under that layer of cloths. And they can swim in that prison suit at home or at a private beach/pool.

Sure they could. Sort of like under a Sheerwater Raincoat.

 Clothing choices don't have to have a point.

So? Did know that women can stuff some weapons up their vaginas? Lets have mandatory cavity searches too!

Yea, I'm sure thats exactly what the secular French state wants to be like, a Islamic-Theocratic Monarchy.

I never doubted their capabilities in bigoted behavior. But the precedents are becoming dangerously frequent, when you think of it and lacking any sense or reason.

What a dirty comment! I think we shall have to wash your mouth with soap!

It is seldom I agree with you wholeheartedly.

It depends. Do those articles of clothing violate statutes? Otherwise, when in Rome, do as Romans do.
Again the Burkini ban is completely unjustified. Why should there be a law that outlaws women from wearing the Burkini in public? What is the harm to society she is doing by sitting on the beach wearing that?

If these terrorist sympathizers don't want to blend in with French rules and customs then they can go back to the beaches of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.

What about western citizens who are Muslims who wear the Burkini? And terrorist sympathizers? Really? We are going straight to playing the xenophobic bigot card?
