You'd think it, with the Nina Simone actress girl considered 'too white' by PC luvvies.

The Left are eating themselves, now attacking some of their biggest victimhood totems, to keep 'pushing the boundaries'.

Ta-Nehisi Coates:
It’s here that the term 'appropriation' bears some usage. We’re not talking about someone inspired by the deeper lessons of Simone’s life and her music. We are talking about people who think it’s fine to profit off her music while heedlessly contributing to the kind of pain that brought that music into being. To acknowledge that pain, to consider it in casting, would be inconvenient—as anti-racist action always is.

It would mean giving an opportunity to someone who’s actively experienced the kind of pain that plagued Simone. That would doubtlessly mean a diminished chance at garnering funds for such a film.

Lisa Respers, CNN:
Yes, with her Afro-Latino heritage (Saldana is Dominican), the actress is a woman of color just like Simone. But the darkening of her skin and the use of prosthetics in an attempt to make her look more like Simone in the forthcoming film "Nina" is a painful reminder of the abhorrent history of blackface in Hollywood.

Evette Dion, Clutch:
Saldana’s decision to accept the role of Nina Simone as a labor of “love” makes her view of race and racism all the more puzzling. It appears as if donning Blackface and depicting Simone has done little to connect the actress with the crooner’s spirit. You can’t portray Nina Simone without realizing how intricately race was intertwined with her life and career.

Other PC nobends have whined, too: Zoe Saldana under fire for 'blackface' in trailer for new Nina Simone biopic | Daily Mail Online

Obama's not 'too white' for the White House though, is he?! Idiots.

This atop Labour conspiring to cover up ethnic rape scandals because exposing it would be 'racist'. This when lefties are also known for calling babies, cats and dogs racist. (Kids get qritten up for life for supposed racism in the playground, too!) Or that Thomas The Tank Engine is racist because the character doesn't like the anthropomorphic diesel train who dislikes him!

And even that the whole white race is 'institutionally' or genetically prejudiced: Joseph Harker: Of course all white people are racist | Society | The Guardian

And so forth.

However, those who oppose them are supposedly the ones with the manias.

What is this mania, this depressive yet animated, guilt drive dressed up as fairness and enlightenment? Is it not time to reclaim fairness and egality from the emotionally crippled class warriors, back into the hands of truly balanced people?

We had them way before the hippies and beatniks in officialdom today!

I have no problem with Anti-Racism.

...We need to stop racism.

Yes, in the short time I've been here, I do notice your talent for self-reflection.

Refreshing and respected.

No wonder the Left aren't Christians now, so selective are they in their humanity.

OP is apologism for racism. To add insult, it's littered with tabloid citations.

It even includes the calling-card for racists:

If someone calls you a racist, you win!

Aha-ha! Victim-blaming, messenger-shooting and name calling!

Who's the apologist for racism, now!

Go and see the film!

I am quite sure that you are going to find DP about as warm as a prison shower.

The heat coming off the Left negates that!

This thread is racist.

Well, that's almost an effort, I suppose.

For far-thinkers of the new age, breaking old conventions, you certainly re-inforce your own stereotypes.

Do you have any thoughts on the girl?

This thread practically demands having thoughts on the OP.

Unfortunate seeing how the inevitable results are far from pleasing.

Inevetible only for the howler monkeys. But let's forget the attacks on the whistleblower for now, as I'm far from the first.

Let me make it even simpler, for the apparently slow - isn't it wrong for liberal journalists to attack a mixed race actress for playing Nina Simone, when other liberals tell us mixed race people are often the most persecuted, by both black and white people?

Isn't this another inversion of once noble aims?

Be big - blame the right people!

Is racism a bad thing? Of course it is.

Individuals should be judged individually, not by the color of their skin or their ethnic origin. That's self-evident, and everybody who disagrees even a tiny bit, indeed is a blatant racist.

That said, I'm often annoyed by hyper-active activists who bloat all kinds of minor annoyances or the occasional insensitivity into major scandals. No matter if that are anti-racists or feminists or right-wing wackos with their obsessions.

Seriously, some people should get some perspective... when people are chased and lynched, or imprisoned because of their skin color, that is a perfect reason to run amok; everybody with a least bit decency should stand up against that. When you don't get the ethnic comic book or movie representation you deem appropriate, it is not. Too much loud fuss about the latter will just cause people to no longer listen to you when the former happens some day.

And when some activists run out of oppressors, they'll turn against each other and invent some, because else, their raison d'être would be gone. Now I just wonder who is worse when it comes to obsessive behavior, anti-racism activists or right-wing anti-PC people.
