Maybe its because one of the ways this culture has come over to say hi is by flying planes into our buildings?
Or that the first three terrorist organizations that show on the list of still active groups include:
Mujahidin Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem (MSC) - linked to Al-Qaeda
Jaysh Rijal al-Tariq al Naqshabandi (JRTN)
ISIL-Khorasan (ISIL-K)

So yeah...we are suspicious of groups who have a history of violently attacking us, our allies, and pretty much everybody they don't like across the world.
Strangely enough, we were cautious of the Germans and Japanese for some few years after 1945 too, as well as Vietnamese after 1975 (I remember one kid in my school during that time who got it especially rough).

Strange reaction to people you have been at war with I know. How unnatural.
