At least five people have been killed and 20 more wounded after a suicide bomb attack hit Istanbul’s main shopping street on Saturday morning.

The governor, Vasip Şahin, confirmed that the blast had been caused by a suicide bomber who had set off the bomb close to the local district governor’s office on Istiklal Street, a pedestrian boulevard lined with international stores and restaurants.

Europe in fight against terrorism.

Could be a false flag or a genuine attack, either way Kurdistan requires independence.

TAK (Teyrêbazên Azadîya Kurdistan = Freedom Falcons of Kurdistan), a splinter group of PKK have since claimed responsibiity.

It was an ISIS sympathizer named Savaş Y.3 Israelis and an Iranian tourist are among the dead.

Also an AKP member's scandal tweet was shared widely. This woman is upset about the number of Israeli casulties, wishing for death to wounded Israelis.

I see Erdogan's propaganda is working. Why would PKK attack Irish & German tourists, it doesn't make any sense. They obviously targeted non-Muslims, infidels.

Sorry, I confused this with the penultimate one (Ankara, last Sunday).

My bad.

Leaving aside whether the TAK and PKK are different entities, surely attacking an important plank of the economy (tourism) would have a certain logic to it?

To correct my previous mistake, I just heard on the news that Turkish officials say it could have been Kurdish group(s) or IS.

I agree with youngturk that the Kurds generally don't tend to target foreigners all that much (aiming primarily at official Turkish forces albeit taking collaterals into account) where IS sees everybody as a worthy target.

Well wikipedia saysthat the PKK dennies having any control over there actions, so it seems similar to the IRA and its various splinter factions. It would also seem that they have acted very indescriminately in the past,
