Where this concentration is indeed now seen as worrisome, it is slowly surfacing that Central Stations like Hamburg and Stuttgart had similar occurrences during New Year's Night, albeit not in such force. It's beginning to look a lot as though various groups loosely coordinated in using the constriction of crowd and surrounding darkness for thieving and a concentration of people like it happens on New Year's night was correctly seen as most conducive to that purpose.

The aspect of sexual harassment was coincidental to and with the main purpose of distracting the victims for easier theft of their valuables, in a few cases money, mostly smart phones and tablets. That's in no way belittling this issue, just to point out that male victims were equally "crowded" and groped but most didn't feel sexually harassed, where all the females did and justifiably so. And it wasn't confined to just cases of butt or boob patting either.

What this has to do with Islam though is anybody's guess.

"Cologne police chief Wolfgang Albers says witnesses described the assaults as coming from a group of up to 1,000 men whose appearance indicated they were of "Arab or North African origin."

Frankly, this is just another of your devious attempts to deny the bright minded their right to generalizing upon any group of people and summarily condemn a religion that those have in common.

It is well known that Islam is the predominant religion in North Africa. By eye-witness accounts the perpetrators here looked N. African (and most probably were). From this can only follow that the actions occurring in Cologne and other places were driven by religious motivation. Where clarity may still be lacking as to what Surah or Hadith commands along the lines of "go to the place where the kaffirs dismount their perfidious iron horse, rape their females and relieve them of their perfidious infidel technologies etc.", surely a decent effort will reveal where this command can be found.

Write this down 100 times (at least):

The perpetrators were N. African.
N. African are mostly Muslim.
ergo...................Muslims steal and rape and especially in Cologne (but, it stands to reason, everywhere else as well).

Do not deviate from this simple equation.

As New Year's resolution I suggest:

Simple minds demand simple explanations. Dwelling on complexities causes the former headaches to the point of implosion. Therefore denying the afore-mentioned the simple explanations is a crime against simplicity and the concept of there being only one black and one white.

I will therefore attempt to desist in future from any behavior that may threaten this particular perception.

Combine the two and you end up with the very most simple salivating like Pavlov's pooch to defend a political-religious ideology they know nothing about. All they know is that they are required to defend it because they would lose cred with their little peeps if they actually knew anything or were objective about the matter.

Oh. OK. By the way, I'm perfectly fine with the notion that you might choose not to participate in a thread. I think the forum can handle it. The fact that you choose to ignore things which don't conform to your particular view of the world is understandable, if not particularly admirable.

He said that smaller groups of men repeatedly emerged from a crowd of about 1,000 young men to surround women, harass them and steal from them. According to the Cologne daily Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, many of the presumed perpetrators are suspected of being from a large group of men that has attracted the attention of police in the past several months. Prior to New Year's Eve, the group had been involved in theft and petty crimes in Cologne nightlife districts.

Spiegel TV ran a TV feature on these gangs and their methods of "trick" thieving in 2014 but, whereas still available, unfortunately for here it's in German.

So in a sense it was just another night at the station except this time it reached new dimensions, up til now unparalleled.

The question what any of this has to do with Islam (as posited by some) remains puzzling.

I tazed a bunch (three) of pickers there some years back. Albanians, I think but don't know for sure. Just that if was reported as primarily their racket at the time.

Then I got the heck out, seeing how possession of a tazer was illegal by German law for private citizens. The way the law was being made an ass of even then and there, my "penalty" would probably have been higher than that of those jerks.

Who is actually saying that?

Germany will need to get used to such actions though, once the hundreds of thousands 'find their feet'. But of course, as you say it amounts to little more "than builders whistles when a female walks by".
