And let me Godwin my own thread in the starting post: the last person from a unified Germany achieving that was:

Congratulations Hells Angela on joining the club of German leaders who destroyed their country.

The only qualification for being Time's person of the year is that you be a Socialist. Let's see. Merkel, Hitler, Obama, all socialists in some form or the other, yep. lol

At least it wasn't Bruce Jenner.

Meh, it was a toss up of mentioning that or godwinning (as the latter is popular).

But she beat him. Poor man.

You realize George W. Bush was Time's Person of the Year in 2004, right?

yea i think I remember that. Probably having to do with the Iraq war. He was part socialist to anyway, as time showed. Not as far left as Obama.

Double wrong, the last person from a (West to be specific) Germany to win TIME person of the year was Willy Brandt in 1970, not Konrad Adenauer in 1953. The last person from a unified (hell, even unified with Austria and Sudetenland) Germany to win TIME person of the year was Adolf Hitler. Unless you're going to claim (AGAIN) I quickly edited my post and added "unified". Your insomnia is leading you to not think straight.

By that parameter you can't count Merkel either. She doesn't have Eastern Prussia, Silesia, what the heck else that's missing since ..................

But WTH, it's all a silly analogy anyway. Whatever point your delude yourself into having made, go knock yourself out on it. That might at least make somebody who does, no on else even seeing it.

Are you subtlety comparing hitler and merkal?

In any case, what sort of knighthood does being Time's person of the year signify? Often enough the so anointed isn't (hasn't been) exactly praised in positive terms.

Meh, by the time Merkel is finished, the whole of the PEOPLE of Eastern Prussia and Silesia might be back in Germany. Everyone is welcome.

Heck, they're already there. Been coming "back home" ever since '45, what lives there now being basically Polish.

I didn't say it gave knighthood, Hitler being an obvious counterexample. I just wished her face and her person would go away, disappear, vanish from both media and politics. Put her in an old people's home or something as early dementia has set in.

Ah, you moonlight as a physician?
