terrorist attack at tube station

~ Problem is, when acting out of fear of what may or may not happen reason goes right out the window.

I think the attacker was simply witless; not fearful. No complaint from many when IS were beheading Syrians but as soon as the RAF goes into action against IS we get attacks.

I was not referring to attacker but reaction of people as result of what the attacker did. I suspect we will hear more such stories, as it sells newspapers.

And my wife and I were going all about London on the Tube back in October. And given the opportunity, we'd happily do so again, since - statistically speaking - it's a LOT more dangerous to walk the streets of conservative city than it is to ride the tube...as long as you mind the gap, that is....

Did not take long for other publications to go with this, including the Guardian, Telegraph, Daily Mail, and even the Sydney Morning Herald (Australia). It was not that long ago that such attacks usually only made headlines of local newspapers, and heaven knows there are enough of those happening often enough.

Even the Financial Times going with this.

very turbulent few weeks.

Typical! half the commuters ran away, the other half got their phones out!

It was BN in pretty much all the publications and other media in NSW. Yes, it was a foul event but hardly breaking News when you consider what we are dealing with here that effects us all on a day to day basis.

Our Government has certainly done a fine job in creating a climate in which terrorists can achieve the social disruption they seek increasingly easily. It's very obvious the priorities of Western governments (not just ours) render, almost by definition, terrorism more significant than anything else.

If terrorists were killing one Australian each and every week, a state of national emergency would be declared and there would be no problem with funds being allocated to address the situation. Meanwhile in the real world, I work in the Health care field as a paramedic. Just to use one example, we are increasingly coming into contact with violent ice addicts. It's at critical stages, the worst I have ever experienced. There's not enough funding for rehab programs, these kids are for the most part on their own. Their drug induced psychosis, violence, and erratic behaviour pose significant risks to the public. The Governments answer...But..Terrorism. Be afraid, don't focus on the everyday real issues.

It sickens me that our Government is so stupid. Everyone needs to understand the risks that extremism can pose and be aware of it. That should go without saying but don't insult my intelligence by trying to pretend that is all we need to be concerned about because it's bull****. It's not. Far from it.

I'd call it a double standard but that's far too mild. The self-loathers who despise their own country are the lowest of the low.

Yes, you have to be particularly careful for those roving bands of Tories out to make mischief.

Sounds like things have not improved much since I left OZ in 1994. Still have family and friends there. As for your mention of ice addicts, I had to look that one up. A new one on me. As for the government, I was one of those commissioned to assist PM Paul Keating retain power at a time when all polls showed his government would lose by a land slide, and I did not even like the guy. John Huston was no better. But that is governments for you. Things are not much better here in UK. I miss OZ at times, especially the tours on my Yamaha round the country. OZ is a beautiful country, and I hope things improve down there. Regards.

Yeah, we are not without our problems but it is a beautiful Country and I feel very fortunate to live here. In the last few hours, our Government has just announced a $300m ice prevention plan. Perhaps they read my post from earlier today. I kid about that, but the funding is appreciated, it's a start!

I agree, as there is not a country without its own problems on the planet, and we certainly have enough of our own here in UK.
