IMHO what the NDR has done is to refute any necessity for Family values.
It is true that (albeit with hindsight) we now recognise that many of the Laws promulgated by the Nazi's were evil, but this does not mean that everything the Nazi's did were equally bad or to be avoided at all costs.
Family values are to a large extent precisely what is missing in our present (sic: enlightened civilization).
With family values we had obedience, respect for Law and Justice, respect for our parents and elders.
Nowadays we have a tendency to give in to every whim or desire expressed by our offspring, we permit unending violence, Sex and sheer unadulterated filth on TV, Radio, Periodicals.
And we then wonder why the Family 'Unit' has by and large vanished from society, why we no longer strive to be the best, but instead are content to follow the Socialist ideal of bringing everything down to a common level.
I have never supported the Nazi's but with respect to family values they were 100% correct.
By eschewing the need for Family Values, those that are in charge of NDR are doing not only Germany but also Europe a vast disservice.

The Nazis' sole purpose was to create more of the master race to settle conquered Europe with and to serve as cannon fodder in the planned war. They didn't care about the family, all they wanted were as many children as possible to indoctrinate in paramilitary camps.
