Icelanders are gorgeous people.
I so much wanted to look exactly like Bjork when I was young (this was back in her Sugarcube days).

And Icelandic people have a very interesting culture, the little I know of it.
I like the fact that they do not generally use family names or surnames.
Instead, they use a system of patronymics- and occasionally matronymics- in which the person's last name indicates the first name of his or her father (or mother).
For instance, Bjork's proper name is Bjork Guðmundsdóttir (Guðmund's Daughter).
Her father is Guðmundur Gunnarsson. And so on.
It just seems like a very... primal way to do things.
Yet infinitely more sensible.
Most of us in the Western world go around with names like Johnson, Jackson, Jefferson, Williamson, and Anderson without having a fricking clue who the original "John", "Jack", Jeffers", "William", and "Anders" are or were. These names are lifeless, inanimate, soulless and bereft of meaning, besides inaccurately and pointlessly labeling females as "sons".
Yeah, I like indigenous Icelandic culture quite a lot.

Well, I just had a conversation with a religious friend of mine and this came up. As she said, and it's completely true, is that this is just a matter of culture. When you think about it, it's no different from people in the United states that believe in Angels, or people in Japan that follow Shintoism.

While I don't believe in angels nor elves, I wouldn't call anyone retarded for believing so.

If I thought that of everyone who believed in something I did not... the world would be a very lonely place.
