'Vicious' fox traps eight people in Cambridgeshire sports club - BBC News

Had a good chuckle at this on my lunchbreak.

A "vicious" fox trapped eight people inside a sports club for three hours as it stalked them from the car park

Panic reigned, with a woman being bitten, a man falling off his bicycle as he was chased and a pest controller being pursued back to his car.

Club chairman Bruce Staines, who was chased around the car park, said he had "never seen anything like it".

A woman who tried to distract the fox with food sustained a bite to her hand.

A man who tried to outpace the creature on his bicycle was chased into a field and fell off, losing his glasses in the process.

"He had to fend the fox off with his bicycle," Mr Staines said.

I just love everything about this story. From the " panic" to the fending off the fox with a bike and then losing his glasses. The brave women who tried to distract the fox with food and the club chairmen who tweaked his groin.
Nothing panics us Brits more than the unpredictable and a wild fox is about as unpredictable as it gets lol.

I can only hope that these unfortunate events did not prevent them from taking tea.

I like to think that the food they offered the fox was jam scones and biscuits.

Unusual behavior for a fox, those bitten should at least check into rabies treatment.
I would think a stout stick would be enough to dispatch a fox.

I guess the reason no one took it out with a snooker cue is because they were constrained by political correctness.

Agree, we once had a rabid domestic cat on our farm in Zambia; really scared us at the time.

It showed no fear whatsoever, jumped at us, leapt onto the ridgeback's back and scratched for all it was worth. The noise it made was really eerie. My dad had to shoot it eventually. Our dog was treated but very wary of cats after that.

Very much like that, when it jumped on our dog though it screeched and hissed in a really awful way.

Foxes are quite small, makes me wonder at the behaviour of the one in the story.

Urban foxes are losing their fear of people, due to being fed in suburban gardens. Normaly shy, they're getting bolder, but this one is exceptional.

Came face-to-snout with a wild boar a week or so back on a twilight walk with the dog. That's WAY more terrifying than a fox, I can tell you. I think it must've weighed around 200kg and tusks about 15cm (6") long. Fortunately, it seemed more frightened of Roxy (6kg, 1cm canines) than I was of it.

They will mark this day ever year and tell the village children about the battle of the bike.

Bring back hunting? I'd do it, but no stirrup cups, no little trumpets and everyone has to wear boiler suits.

Bummer. Wild boar is exceptionally tasty and makes an outstanding Prosciutto.

This is fantastic, I especially loved the Karate kid trying to take him down. We really have become absurd as a species lol

Hopefully, while they apologized for any offense they may have given due to the long British history of vulpine oppression.
