Al Gore using data shared by the IPPC scientists, predicted 10 years ago on this day Armageddon would occur and life on earth as we know it would change forever.
So I thought it fitting since members are located all over the world, that we could all share what is currently happening in our neck of the woods. Are any of you witnessing cities on the coastlines being submerged due to rising ocean waters or seen any polar bears floating by on chunks of glacier ice?

Here in central Ohio the skies are baby blue, sunshine, currently 27 degrees.

Big Al's bin kinda quiet of late hasn't he ? I guess he's made his big bucks already off this so why care ?

We are living in a day and age where Trump and Clinton are viable candidates. What makes you think Armageddon hasn't arrived? :p

He made his big bucks by selling his TV station to oil royalty who also fund terrorism. Big win for environmentalism and human rights.

Greetings, Vesper! :2wave:

Excellent post!

Yes but creating a bogus looming eco catastrophe on the side has been a nice little earner for him too.

Panic always sells

Actually, we are losing the first row of houses along an approximately 20 km strip of shore to the see. To judge by the old photos from the 1970s the beach used to be about 40 meters wide. Now the waves are undermining the walkway in between the houses and the sea.

PS: 27 degrees Celsius?

That will be after the election.

I think it's past time Al returns his trophy and prize money.

Lots of natural causes for beach erosion.
No not Celsius, Fahrenheit

Good one Jog!

I'm actually kind of pissed off that the soon to be beach front lot I purchased in Yuma is not yet beach front.

Well, it is Yuma so it is kind of beach front but it's not yet ocean front and that's more what I was shooting for.

First off, do you have an actual quote?

Second, Al Gore is irrelevant to this debate and that is primarily why you don't hear from him anymore. There is a critical mass of individuals, scientists and politicians, that endorse and agree with AGW which in turn makes Al Gore even more irrelevant.

Third, no one claimed that any of the truly disasterous side effects of Global Warming would take place in 2016.

Fourth, we already have some devastating impacts from Global Warming like the strengthening of the drought in California ( Source and the exasperation of the Syrian Civil War that is tied to a drought made worse by Global Warming (Source ).

Fifth, a polar bear floating on ice would die before he reached Ohio or Georgia and the ice would have melted.

Sixth, you should go make a snowball, take a picture of it, and send that picture to one of the 97% of all climatologists that agree with AGW and include the caption, "I am stupid enough to believe that this snowball disproves global warming. Please help."

Well you likely have sun and sand, I guess in the words of Meatloaf "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad"!

I don't recall Al Gore having predicted any dates of AGW armageddon. I do see the International consensus that AGW is real and something must be done, or exactly as Al Gore stated. This thread sounds like a bunch of anti-AGW, anti Al Gore, completely misinformed and wrong voters trying to justify their mistake or ignorance, whichever the case may be. Perhaps it is a "give me a hug" group for historical opposition to reality.

I believe that it really was all about making money.

Blood And Gore: Making A Killing On Anti-Carbon Investment Hype

Gore and Blood, the former chief of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), co-founded London-based GIM in 2004. Between 2008 and 2011 the company had raised profits of nearly $218 million from institutions and wealthy investors. By 2008 Gore was able to put $35 million into hedge funds and private partnerships through the Capricorn Investment Group, a Palo Alto company founded by his Canadian billionaire buddy Jeffrey Skoll, the first president of EBay Inc. It was Skoll’s Participant Media that produced Gore’s feverishly frightening 2006 horror film, “An Inconvenient Truth”.

Is this the musings of a couple of DC residents of late I wonder ?

Below you will have an opportunity to buy An Inconvenient Truth. If you're an AGW devotee, it's surely worth the money.

Ignorance isn't a very compelling argument.

Al Gore, Sundance's Leading Man

When one chooses to ignore true data, the word ignore gets stretched under the compelling circumstances. Ergo, IGNORANCE.

So Gore clearly had other more 'personal' motivations for doing so

$$$$

Skeptics actually pay more attention to the TRUE data than they do the statistically tortured data.

Hot damn! A routine like that could get you on SNL.

Thanks, but my math skills discount any need for the book. Besides, I'd just send Al the money so he'd have more to fight the good fight and not have any money wasted on printing costs. AGW isn't a narrative, it is a math problem. Do the numbers and get back to me.
