James explains that global warming is not really happening. However, global warming is NOT the same as "Climate Change". Climate change is Orwellian talk referencing a number of amorphous societal changes taking place in the world. Climate change talks and actions taken are efforts at controls on people, and have little to do with the weather.

We might want to start worrying about removing the CO2 and especially Methane from the atmosphere instead of the technology traverse to alternative energies. That traverse in now already underway and gaining speed, because the alternatives to oil, gas and coal are becoming price competitive. This will improve and hydrocarbons will be needed only for chemical or special uses. The private sector is onto that now and we need no more fear mongering from government. It will happen over the next 30 or forty years as technology becomes more efficient, no matter the price of oil.

What will not happen is a removal of the CO2, Methane and other gases we have emitted to attain that present level of economic and social development we have and that will continue to seep into the atmosphere from food and other production required to maintain our living standards and allow the now poor to have meat. That probably would be a true public good. The question is, what it is worth.

Or in other words, after nearly 28 years since Dr. James Hansen's seminal testimony
before the United States Congress, the planet has not warmed as much as the models
predicted. The models are wrong, and any science based on those models is wrong
and it would follow that any policy based on that science would also be wrong.

Not true. Nature currently removes about half of the CO2 mankind emits above natural sourcing. If we were to completely stop, it would slowly be removed, naturally, faster than any technology we make could.

Half is about 18 gigatons of CO2 annual that nature removes. Just how much equipment would we need to remove that much? Methane also breaks down and absorbed by nature.

Yeah nature has quite the economy of scale thing going on. There's a ****load of trees out there. Would take quite a bit of global effort to artificially sequester that much CO2. (barring some technology that does it in a much more efficient manner, anyway) In fact, I would say the better option we'd have to do it artificially is some sort of genetic engineering of plants to make them more effective at it.

But that's way the hell outside my field so what the hell do I know.
