More polluting diesels become known in the Netherlands

Diesels only get 50+ mpg in normal circumstances in imperial gallons.
I beg to differ, in 2009 I rented a Ford C-max in Rome and drove on the Autostrade for about 1000 miles
at the speed limit (and above) 81 Miles per hour, I converted to US gallons from liters, and got just over 59 MPG.
The car at the time claimed 60 mpg.

Diesel engines seem rather impractical in cars. The have very little house power compared to equivalent gasoline engines, they have to be turbo charged or they don't preform well in higher altitudes. I'd consider a diesel truck if I had a lot of towing to do, but I don't think I'd ever consider a diesel car.
