A new study from Stanford says the whole world could run on renewables by 2050.

This is interesting.

You know what is a renewable resource and we don't even have to dig it up or take up masses of land?

FARTS!

Dude, they are made up of 10% oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, up to 50% hydrogen and 10% methane.

We could recycle the oxygen, use the CO2 for plant growth, and the methane and hydrogen for energy!

Let's start developing methods to catch and use this perpetually renewable resource! Just look at all the cows!! ;)

Whoa, wait: They just fired up a fusion plant in Germany? Really? You'd think that one would be on the six O:Clock news at the very least.

yes it burned at millions of degree's Celsius for a few seconds before they shut it down.
but the reactor is complete and they are running beta tests before they hook up
the cooling system to it. it is going to take a few years.

I posted a link to it in this thread.

Saudi Arabia and the Koch brothers are going to be pissed!

Well they can't be that pissed. For all practical considerations we'll always need oil for rubber and plastic. Global warming notwithstanding, we need to get off of fossil fuels for our energy needs because I don't see anything replacing plastic for the foreseeable future.

Those experiments could lead to the next paradigm shift in energy production. Very impressive. The technology is a few years away though.

well next year they are going to hook up the main cooling system and then do a hydrogen plasma stream instead of a helium one.

Renewable energies, avatar bodies, and cities on Mars...2040-2050 looks like a good time to be alive! :)
