IPCC' 5th report

RCM simulations to force a storm-surge model for the Bay of Bengal
and found that the combined effect of MSL rise of 4 mm yr–1 and RCM
projections for the A2 scenario (2071–2100) gave an increase in 100-
year return levels of total sea level (including tides) between 0.40 to
0.67 m (about 15 to 20%) along the northern part of the east coast
of India, except around the head of the bay, compared to those in the
base line (1961–1990) scenario.
Nice bit, the sea level rise seems to be back to the 2 foot mark.

The actual sea level change projection I have yet to find. It's written as obscurely as it can be.

Can anyone find where the water is supposed to be coming from??? I'll keep at it.

Table 13.3 | Twenty-first century sea level rise projections for global glaciers, from process-based surface mass balance models, and from alternate model strategies

Nice of them to make it not possible to cut and paste.

This table seems to show that there won't be any serious sea level rise. The highest number I can find is 0.19mm per year. That's 19mm for 100 years. Or less than an inch.:lamo

The table includes the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets.

Well there goes all of the problem with global warming then....

Table 13.9

Worst case scenario; 239mm. That's just under 9 1/2". That's by 2100.

Can anyone predict which cities will be lost to the sea by a sea level rise of 9 1/2 inches????

In the minds of all intelligent people, the IPCC lost any tiny bit of credibility it might have had a long time ago.

Not sure what you're talking about. Average estimate of sea level rise by 2100 is about .6 meters, with a range of .3-1 meter.

RealClimate: Sea level in the 5th IPCC report

How about the scientitsts leave plumbing to you, and you leave science to the scientists?

yes and the current rate of increase is nowhere near that needed to reach that average estimate. even using the upper end of the increase estimate (3mm/yr) it would take over 181 years for sea level to rise by .6 meters

how about you leave science to someone who can actually do simple math?

Well, I won't be publishing any papers but I am, and I know this will greatly upset you, able to wade through the actual IPCC report and fish out the numbers they are trying to bury.

That's called freedom of information in a democracy.

Can you find any prediction of a 1m sea level rise by 2100 in the actual report? If so please post it's location.

I'm downloading the full report, 375MB in pdf form. Will spend a few weeks carefully going through this.

It's a bit complicated for you, I think. The rise is accelerating over time, and that usually required differential calculus to calculate.

Here's the challenge for you then;

Find the bit of the report which says that's likely to happen!

from 1993-2013 the rate of increase has remained stable at ~3mm per year. which of your doomsday scenarios is going to lead to a dramatic increase in the rate of sea level rise?

You'll wade through it. But I'm not impressed with your ability so far to critically read it....

Oh, great intellectual please show me the errors of my ways. Explain in painful detail where I am wrong.

One of us talks about differential calculus. The other has did that stuff when he was 12.

Find the sea level rise prediction. That should do it.

Something tells me your'e no "scientist" either.

But no matter, I think we're fortunate to have the Liberal hoard willing to save civilization from certain doom....for a price of-course.

Seems to be a couple of foot. Can you find it?

I bet you can't!

Go on post the number of the table! Show the world you can read the document after all!!

I gave you a link from a reputable source that sourced the IPCC. I'm on a phone at a swim meet- not real easy for me to do your work for you right now.

Oh, right, so whilst you KNOW that I'm wrong you are unable to actually get the information for your self.

I'll keep posting the challenge. It will not go away.

So you can't do it. But you think I'm unable to do it when I just posted a link to it.

Have you ever been neurologically tested?

why is it that any time a true believer is issued a challenge, they always seem to have some excuse for why this is not a good time?

serioulsy, you are at a swim meet and you are on your phone posting on a political forum? way to support the team....

I see you understand swimming as much as you understand science.

How ironic coming from someone who has yet to provide a shred of empirical evidence supporting his faith. Don't be too upset though the IPCC haven't managed to either

The fact that you would make a comment about there being no evidence in a thread topic that is about the latest IPCC report shows that you are completely detached from reality.
