Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:91]

Re: Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:

Wow, someone who actually knows some "American History" not just after a European sailor got lost at sea and had to be rescued by "Indians" who were not Indian. While there is no certainty on why or how they disappeared, the climate warming theory is the best to explain why they began migrating.

By the way, the Anasazi culture surrounded a plant called Datura, a trumpet vine like perennial which makes a great highlight to any garden. They consumed the root, which is a near acid trip.

I wonder if they didn't just team up with another Peyote eating nation and just said "**** it, we're tuning in a dropping out."

Greetings, F&L. :2wave:

Well, that wasn't covered in class! It would have made the course way too interesting to young college kids, prompting the Dean to wonder about the sudden wish by so many to study Archeology/Anthropology! :lamo:

Any news? It's been a while.

Re: Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:

No progress in court.
When we drill down into Mann's complaint about Steyn, aside from Steyn's inflammatory rhetoric,
He basically said Mann manipulated his data to get the original Hockey stick graph.
Since Mann in fact did alter the data through his data processing,
Styne's comments are factually correct.
At this point Styne is just trying to force Mann to admit such under oath.

Given that you have defined 'manipulation' as any process that involves numbers, like simple addition or subtraction, I don't think that Mann will have to defend his science in court. Of course, it's not really challenged in the scientific literature, so it's a closed case.

I'm pretty sure the heart of the case is comparing Mann to a convicted child molester.

We'll have to wait to see how the case plays out in court. What is indisputable at this point is that Steyn wants the trial to begin as soon as possible and MM's lawyers want to delay it for as long as possible.

Indisputable?

Because Steyn says so?

The case against the NR is pending too, I think. Civil cases are very slow things in the U.S.

These are all matters of public record.

Re: Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:

Could you supply a link to these "public documents" in which Prof Mann's attorney asks for a delay of the proceedings?

I can tell you how this will go:
He will do it. They won't say anything of the sort, and he will argue for three days that they do (mostly by cutting and pasting the same thing again and again)

They are available via the U.S. District Court in DC. They are public filings.

I know you have already posted such things but if you want to show the weakness of Mann's case please do it again.

...because Tim can't.

Re: Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:

Climatologist Michael Mann is suing the National Review and Mark Steyn for defamation, after Steyn called him the Jerry Sandusky of science. He also called his work 'fraudulent', which must be where our stable of deniers got the concept.

Another judgement has been issued in the case against Steyn and the judge certainly seems to be again ripping the NR and Steyn on their awful behavior.

Looks like even the courts are going to agree that Mann is not a fraud, and that goes with the entire scientific community. Whats left are the scientific retards/fossil fuel money addicts like James Inhofe and Roy Spencer. Sad.

Well, you see, this is clearly just proof that the judicial branch is also victim to the Great Liberal Conspiracy.

It's also almost two years old and long since become irrelevant. Steyn is going to mop the floor with MM in court. MM knows it, and has been trying to delay proceedings.

Re: Michael Mann seems poised to win his defamation suit against NR and Mark Steyn[W:

None that I can find. Steyn remains ready to proceed. MM continues to delay.

Sure he does.

Just because he says it doesn't mean it's true.

The Rush Limbaugh stand in has demonstrated his capacity to lie before.

All the delaying motions have been filed by MM's attorneys.
