That is pure crap.

Teachers are not and never have been the "sole provider" of information. When you put books in front of kids, you put ideas in their heads. Teachers merely keep the ideas flowing.

Demanding that kids study, do their homework, and make good grades is not "coercion", it's discipline--another virtue that the crap theories abounding in modern education fail to grasp.

The geniuses that produced all the wondrous technology touted as the salvation of modern education had their heads filled with ideas in the manner I describe. Use those methods to fill the heads of the next generation of geniuses with ideas and be amazed at the result.

What is this nonsense? I don't know where you get the ridiculous idea that any of the proposals I advocate are related to "crap theories abounding in modern education," because they're rather anomalous and in some respects involve outright rejection of the current school system and adoption of
Unschooling Unschooling
. For example, I advocate the introduction of student democratic management into schools, as is the case with A.S. Neill's Summerhill, the most famous democratic school to this day.

I think we're forgetting that Portugal has one of the lowest literacy rates in Europe. Notwithstanding, technology could help improve grades all around.
