I think you will find that the way that some conservative activist groups have been portraying it is largely hyped, and that it doesn't ban the terms husband and wife or mom and dad or anything of that nature. Its simply a bill to protect gay and lesbian students, or students whose parents are gay or lesbian, from discrimination in school.

Moreover, tolerance does not mean that one has to tolerate ignorance, hatefulness, and intolerance.
