that does not reconcile with this:

"They were shocked and horrified as I was and I appreciate the fact that they took immediate action and fired one of the aides in the class," he said. "The problem is that they didn't fire the teacher because of tenure and she was moved to another school."

the superintendent says the teacher was terminated
the father says that is not true

The point though, is that we shouldn't accept actions like this regardless of whether the school is public or private, but it could happen anywhere. If this teacher doesn't get fired, then anyone that had a part in that decision should be removed from their jobs as well. I'm sure that every union member and unionized teacher you could talk to would agree with me.

i see no reference to whether this is a union represented school or whether the union has intervened

Never said there was but there is no unions and tenure....that's what I was responding to.

I think response suggests that unions are he reason for the problems. It is also likely some private schools have problems union schools don't, like firing people without cause.


No one wants poor teachers, but the problem is there with or without unions.

It's possible that the Superintendent worked out some deal with another school district, assuming that he is only over one school district as I thought most were, that got the teacher moved to another school district so that he could legitimately say "no longer working in this district" but in reality she is still working as a teacher, just in another school within the state or even the county. It is possible that the Superintendent is in charge of several districts also. Or maybe the SI misspoke.

Or perhaps the father was misinformed. This would be the least likely possibility to me just because of the measures the father went to to find out what was going on with his son. It seems he would likely go out of his way to find out exactly what happened to the ones responsible.

my impression is the opposite
the superintendent has much to lose if his statement is found to be untruthful. lying is of no benefit to him
in contrast, there is little to no damage to the father, if it is found his statement is found to be bogus
and he does have a motivation to embellish the story
