Deep Learning Is Going to Teach Us All the Lesson of Our Lives: Jobs Are for Machines

Re: Deep Learning Is Going to Teach Us All the Lesson of Our Lives: Jobs Are for Mach

Damn, that could lead to, um, say, people voting for Donald Trump to be President.
No, it could never get that bad.
Well, if we get really good reception, we can watch that new Canadian comedy reality show starring ha ha ha, funny guy, Justin Trudeau. Wasn't that show written by cartoonist, Gary Trudeau???? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, thanks for the laugh, was needing that mal.

Hey, Trudeau 2 is a watered-down liberal, a lightweight as Canadian politics goes, and he looks like Winston Churchill next to that bunch of low-life shysters, posers, scammers and snake-oil salesmen you guys have to chose from. Jeezus, you'd have to go to Kenya or Uganda or Columbia or somewhere to find a more disreputable bunch of power-grubbing con artists pretending to be candidates for government positions. I mean, are you seriously going to have to choose between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton? This is what your nation has put forward for the highest office in the land?

'Scuse me. Thanks for the laughs. Looking forward to more.

Do you disagree with the article then? It's major claim is that we're at a critical turning point in machines being able to learn, which is completely different from all other automated processes up to this point. There's no historical comparison.

Yes, I do disagree with the article and with your assessment. We're not seeing machines learn, what we're seeing are machines with an immense amount of computational power appear to learn, they still have to be programmed and they do what they're told. I would say the automobile and the telephone had far more impact than these new machines will, in fact computers were a giant leap forward and all these new machines will be is a more advanced version of an old machine. But, even if you're right and these machines are a gigantic leap forward and something brand new and earthshaking then great, all that means is a new Kondratiev wave begins and things will be looking up for us.
