America now has more breweries than ever. And that might be a problem.

Awesome time to be a fan of craft beer.

scaled with population size.... I would think it's not that high

It was a startling announcement: As of Dec. 1, 2015, the Brewers Association had counted 4,144 breweries in the United States, the most ever operating simultaneously in the history of the country. According to historians, the previous high-water mark of 4,131 was set in 1873.

Startling?

If we had the same per capita breweries it would be about 40,000 today.

I'd think there are more schools, miles of roads, loafs of bread sold in a country of 330 million than 36 million.

Its the miro brew trend that's increased it all. Secondly, everybody wants to be a CEO.

conclusion: there is no reason in hell to drink piss beer from large corporate breweries

Sure there is...price. I know a guy who drinks a case of Blue Moon(Coors) on a long w/e. He doesn't make a lot of money and if he bought craft beer, he'd have to limit it to a 6 pack.
A case of Blue Moon(24) at Costco is about $25

Craft beer tastes better. If you're like me you are happy spending your money on quality and not quantity. I don't personally drink to get drunk so I'd rather spend $9 bucks on a quality 6 pack of a good IPA than $12 on a 12 pack of Coors.

If I'm trying to get ****ed up with my friends on the 4th of July I'll go buy some PBR's and cheap vodka.

I rarely drink anymore......but Blue Moon is a wheat beer, not anything like Coors. Coors just owns the brand. I can't stand Coors and never could. When I worked for Budweiser, I drank that or Michelob.
My favorite commercial beer is Dos Equis Dark. My son-in-law makes a home brew that is fabulous and very low on hops. So...it is sweeter and not hoppy.

Not sure how one beer can taste better than another Except to an individual. It's like saying we all like the same color shirt or the same rock song.

I don't drink much but on a hot day like a Corona. If at a picnic then a Coors Lite. If I have a craft style beer then it can be good or crappy...aren't they suppose to be unique? I also don't like all types of specialty cheeses.

Yeah but there were only 38 million residents of the US at the time so on a per capita basis we still need 10X more breweries.

Ok with me....if it makes more suds, it creates more jobs. ;)

There is a good deal of individuality in cutting the cheese...also.

IPA, Mmmmm. Now you're talking!

I don't get the big deal with this.

Simple demographics will mean that most things will be more now then ever...including breweries. Especially considering the continued rise in home breweries/micro breweries.
