HP plans to cut ANOTHER 25,000-30,000 jobs

That's been my exact same opinion of HP for years!

they have earned that. their computer parts are crap.
they are worse than dell and the only people worse than them are gateway.

and being worse than dell is saying a lot.
 
Oh, so it's not bad management, it's just technology replacing the need for human labor. I've seen a few threads about that.

Well it's both in the long run.. When HP bought it.. it was a sound buy, nobody expected Cloud tech to take off as it was still in it's infancy.
 
the CEO/chairman Meg Whitman is clearly not qualified for her position. HP is collapsing on her watch.

These goes back further then Meg Whitman. Whitman took the helm in 2011 and the stock is still up since the low point before she took the role. Since 2006 it's been flat as of today.. That includes Mark Hurd, Leo Apotheker and Meg Whitman as CEOs. Under Whitman shares are up $5.

"I'm frankly not sure if HP is finished with the layoffs."
The company will not say where the cuts will fall, but part of the plan involves changing the nature of the workforce.
The proportion of workers in what HPE calls "low-cost locations" is expected to rise from around 42% now to 60% by 2018.

also known as outsourcing. HP is going to try and transfer jobs from high wage economies to low wage economies.
 

I agree with her here some Government jobs have to go away. It's how you do it that matters to people. There are two different distinct ways that either piss people off or none the wise. We all know the piss off people way.. giving them pink slips.

The none the wiser way is actually a benefit to all. Usually Government does this during certain times such as BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) periods. Now depending on your views you may raise a stink about military personal not being allowed to extend contracts (you sign contracts when you join and stay in the US military, typically 2,3,4 year contracts). So the Government may decided who can reup. So for example if you have a bunch of E-4s and lack of slots for E-5 opening over the next two years. Some E-4s will be shown the door.

Now on the civilian side of it Government typically likes to offer early outs.
 
I work in the IT space in Norther VA. HP is hiring like mad and paying great salaries.....I can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone that has been made an an offer by HP. HP is losing to Cisco in the server space, their acquisition of 3Par didn't accomplish what they hoped with EMC dominating in the storage space. In IT, converged infrastructure and hyper-converged and cloud are where enterprise IT is going and VCE is leading in that space at the enterprise level. I suspect that HP laid off 30k people so they could make room for new talent.

I for one have little faith in HP's ability to execute as a company and that seems to be the general consensus among my peers.
