My point from the beginning was that this idea that feminists routinely bash housewives has become an "obvious statement" that isn't so obvious.

There are actually quite a bit more quotes than you'd imagine, and newer ones as well. Now that I had a bit more time to research it, I've actually found a few current [radical feminist] groups. But that's beside the point..

Yes. I think most mainstream feminist thought is that women should have choices. And that's really what it's all about. It's not that complicated.

I never said that feminists routinely bash housewives. Liblady, iirc, said that she hadn't known of any, but I enlightened her that indeed there are some who have said such things. It is obvious, being in the realm of political thought, that there are some feminists who have said such things.

I agree that the more common, "mainstream" feminist is a bit more about choices and equality. However, I am unsure what the exact proportion there is of feminists who believe, as I do, in nothing but true equality. I percieve true feminism to be about nothing but true equality.

I think it's a huge mistake to use porn to judge society. It's sex. It's not rational, it doesn't necessarily reflect how we think or live in the real world. It's fantasy.

Good points but I'm not judging society. I'm talking about judging "extreme feminism", and more specifically the comments from the group whose name suggests they support violence against men. A link was posted earlier

Well maybe what you consider violent isn't violent to me when it comes to porn - different perspectives.

Have you met, dated, or even married a feminist? Did it frustrate you- do you feel like feminists in general are biased, arrogant, frustrating, or just people standing up for their rights as a gender? Do you think the severity or difficulty of dealing with feminists has increased or decreased since the movement started? If you have other thoughts, I'd love to hear them too.

I briefly dated a gal who praised a friend because his wife's name was before his in their phone book listing. It didn't bug me at the time, but as I look back, I can remember that there were several times where she carried that kind of attitude.

Any discussion about feminism invariably turns into a discussion about feminists instead. And that quickly turns into discussion about the most radical of them.

Instead, we should just talk about feminism, or even drop the term and talk about equality of the sexes or whatever.

Would it bother you if someone praised a friend for taking her husband's name instead of keeping hers?

Yeah, "violent" is a loaded and subjective term, especially when it involves fantasy.
