True Debate Rules

Debates start on the first Monday of a Given Month
Debate Politics Staff will pick Eight (8) members from candidates interested in participation, members chosen for a debate are selected by a secret formula known only to Staff and Dead Kings of Prussia. Those chosen to debate any one month cannot be considered for the next debate.

These eight participants will be paired into four debate pairs, which will be given a topic for debate based on another secret formula, unfortunately, even we dont know what it is...so we will guess. Pairs will be given this topic the night before debate begins, as will the order of posting (who goes first). A Debate Monitor will be chosen as well.

Each member has the opportunity to rebut the previous post, or pass. In other words….they take turns.

The guidelines for debate are simple, though somewhat flexible if requests are made to the Debate Monitor.

*links to sites, and printed material are to be used as seldom as possible, if at all. The important thing is that you quote the relevant portion, and then use the link to prove you're not just making it up.
Op Ed articles are not allowed.

*Any use of profanity, flaming, or name calling will be frowned upon, and are the signs of losing a debate.

*As with any true debate, we request you use your own words when responding if you can....though stated sources, and quotes are expected.

Each debate will last for a total of Five days, after which a Poll will be added to the thread. Members are asked to be honest in voting for the most capable debate technique. Not on the right answer, as this is not the intent of the debates.


The Timeline

We start in week one with four pairs in five day debates, Followed by two days to decide winners thru a membership poll in the thread, and Moderator discussion.

Second week has four winner split into two pairs, and new topics for five days….followed by two days to decide winners, as listed above

Third week pits the remaining winners against each other...and should be quite a blood sport, after five days and two more days of voting,An open Chatroom discussion decides the actual Masterdebater using a formula we can actually tell you.
1/3 final poll, 1/3 Moderator opinion, 1/3 Chatroom discussion.

Fourth week we ask for interested members....and start the whole thing all over again.

Debate Monitors:

Chosen from the Candidate List, These are the primary fact check, and attitude enforcement in each debate. Though they do not have the power to remove posts, they DO have a direct line to Forum Moderators, and the responsibility to maintain fair and balanced source material within the debate. These folks have the hard job....and will be rewarded for the effort with this:
