Here's another HRW report...

Occupied Palestinian Territories: Authorities Must Address Violence against Women and Girls

And it's very lazy indeed that they neglected to amend their report with such recent Hamas incidents which severely impact quality of life issues within all of Gaza...

On account of Islamic Jihad's truck bomb attack at the Erez Crossing, some 200,000 Palestinians are reported without electricity or running water. The Jerusalem Post revealed, "Palestinian officials say around 200,000 people in northern Gaza don't have running water or power... The explosion cut two of the seven major power lines that come in from Israel..."

Earlier today, Palestinian terrorists fired at rocket at the Nahal Oz fuel terminal that supplies petroleum and petroleum-based products to the Gaza Strip. The terrorist attack led to Israel's temporarily suspending transfers of fuel from that terminal to the Gaza Strip. The Jerusalem Post reported:

A rocket fired into the Nahal Oz fuel terminal on Wednesday prompted the IDF to cease transferring industrial fuel, cooking gas and diesel to the territory.

The rocket hit the Gaza side of the crossing, wounding a Palestinian worker there, Palestinian doctors said.

Earlier this year, the Hamas terrorist organization stole 60,000 liters of fuel from the Palestinian side of that terminal that had been intended to be supplied to the Gaza Strip's residents.

Today, Reuters reported:

Hamas has seized control of the Palestinian water agency that is spearheading Middle East envoy Tony Blair's signature project in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian and Western officials said on Thursday.

Hamas's takeover of the Palestinian Water Authority in Gaza cements the group's control over the territory and could cast doubt on the future of the North Gaza Sewage Treatment Works project -- a centerpiece of an economic package touted by Blair to try to bolster the chances of a peace deal this year.

And the Jerusalem Post (owner, Conrad Black; editor David Horowitz; director, Richard Perle) is your idea of fair and balanced?

A cursory search will yield these same news reports in numerous other legitimate sources all across the media globe.

The Jerusalem Post is a biased source, and certainly we know that many other so-called legitimate media sources are biased as well. Human Rights Watch, Gisha, and Physicians for Human Rights are all legitimate, non-partisan organizations. Their joint letter to Bush stated, "Israel’s comprehensive restrictions on the movement of goods and people, including fuel and other civilian necessities, have produced a devastated economy and a severe humanitarian crisis there." I think information from these three sources is likely to be reliable.

That's very strange Chanda, considering that both Hamas and Fatah usually avail themselves of either Ha'aretz or The Jerusalem Post to publish personal interviews, pertinint news stories, and organizational communique's. It seems odd that both Palestinian organizations trust these two media outlets, yet they don't meet your personal standards.

You never addressed the willful damage and theivery done to the Gazan infrastructure by Hamas attacks on border transfer stations. These Hamas attacks severely diminish the ability of Israel to transfer commodities like electricity, fuel, and pharmaceuticals to Gaza. Why would a government attack the critical transfer stations that supply its constituents? The answer is that Hamas places a higher priority on warfare than the wellbeing of its citizens.

It's also quite odd that HRW criticises Israel over border crossings, yet says nothing of the closure of the Rafah terminal which is controled by Egypt. Egypt refuses to open its Rafah border crossing with Gaza and has deployed a significant security force to prevent a forced opening.

Egypt deploys hundreds of policemen on Gaza border
Fri Jun 6, 2008 9:07am EDT

RAFAH, Egypt, June 6 (Reuters) - Egypt deployed hundreds of riot police along the border with the Gaza Strip on Friday, fearing hundreds of Palestinian protestors may try to storm the Rafah crossing, security officials said.

One official said 500 policemen as well as scores of border guards were deployed at Rafah border crossing and along a concrete wall separating Sinai and the coastal strip. "Hundreds of Palestinians are starting to gather in front of the main gate of the crossing on the Palestinian side demanding it to be opened," the official told Reuters on a customary condition of anonymity. Another security official put the number of policemen at around 1,000, along with 500 border guards.
