I did a good deal of research on Von Braun a while back and it was more than clear that he was a rocket scientist that was forced to join the party because that's what the party did and wasn't someone who cared about it. He certainly never saw combat, killed any jews, or expressed any real support for nazi ideals.

There were some real Nazi's. most of the scientists though were not. they were forced into service or saw their families sent off to concentration camps.
the only real Nazi's were the military leaders I am sure there were some smypathizers but most of the scientists wanted to do their job.

The other reason for the import of the german scientists was to keep them out of Russians hands. that was a bigger concern than whether they were loyal to the Nazi
party.
