So I met a Flat Earther..

I **** you not, I met a guy who believes that the Earth is flat.

Not only is the Earth flat, but there's a huge Ice wall that circumvents the flat plane.

Also we never went to the Moon, all photos from outer space that show the " Blue Marble " are fake and we are the Center of the Universe.

When I tried to bring up the obvious counter arguments ( TimeZones, Coriolis effect, Compasses, every adventurer that ever circumvented the globe ever, etc ) he claimed they could all be explained away with just a bit of " open minded " research.

And apparently, this ridiculous conspiracy is gaining steam thanks to the internet.

This age old debate is gaining steam again and some of the people that have bought into the Conspiracy aren't exactly stupid.

Just predisposed to crazy conspiracy theories.

As NASA can't seem to produce an actual photograph of the earth, or video panning the earth, you might want to get used to it.

Sorry, I cant get used to the idea that there's a huge Ice wall circumventing the flat plane that is Earth that just so happens to be guarded by the different Military's of the World.

Not when I can watch a YouTube video of the last Lunar eclipse and see the Earth's shadow reflected on to the Lunar surface.

It's the shadow of a sphere. Or pick up my trusty compass and watch it line up with the magnetic field produced by the massive electro magnet that is the Earth.

Magnets have to have 2 poles, North and South.

No I just cant buy into the Flat earth conspiracy.

A friend of a friend type of thing. A discussion on silly conspiracy theories led to a discussion and debate that I thought had been settled a long time ago.

Being round doesn't restrict the possibility that it's a flat disc rather than a sphere, re: Lunar eclipse shadow.

Not that I believe the earth is a disc, just kibitzing from the side lines.
 
Ask them why soap and water forms a bubble, a sphere, instead of a disk.


See what their answer is...
 
I watched a debate between a flat earther and an athiest on youtube.... like an 1 hr and 30 min conversation lol... it makes be think that really anyone will believe anything, it's just how humans are...even on mass scales.

How does an ice wall circumvent a flat plane? I could see one circumscribing a flat plane, or even encircling or encompassing, but circumventing seems beyond the abilities of your average ice wall.

Oh noes! Someone had an aphasic moment, let's all pile on! I mean, Fenton is far from one of my favorite people, but everyone picks the wrong word every so often, and when using a phone or tablet, maybe even moreso since the damned things usurp what we've intended to type so often.
