Can you tell that I'm from the deep south? Bet you didn't know that they let some of us learn to read and write... even cypher! I stumbled upon debatepolitics.com when Googling for some info on the looming financial crisis. I enjoyed reading some posts here and hope to provide my opinions in the near future on several subjects. Hopefully, my attempts to seek the truth will only ruffle the feathers of those who need ruffling!

I live in Louisiana and some of you might remember our illustrious former governor Edwin Edwards who now resides behind bars in federal prison. Edwards was elected to the governor's office several times (it seems like 4 terms, but I'm not sure). During Edwards' last campaign he ran against David Duke of KKK fame. Many Louisiana residents had previously thought that Edwards was guilty of any of several alleged crimes (bribery, hospital scandals, etc.) but prosecuters never could pin anything on him by that time. Thus, bumper stickers during the Edwards-Duke campaign stated "VOTE FOR THE CROOK, IT'S IMPORTANT". This meant basically that Louisiana voters were better off electing an alleged crook rather than a known racist like David Duke. I voted for Edwards by the hardest in that election and was satisfied years later when they convicted him for crimes related to the licensing of gambling casinos. Well, now we have Bobby Jindal as our governor and things are looking up for Louisiana.

Thus, my quote about voting for the right candidate... Also, I look forward to interacting with many of you and, hopefully, I will learn from those experiences.
