Welcome aboard DiAnna! There are some interesting and boring threads here. The same goes for the posters.

Put on your fire proof sweater and jump in. The water's.... wet.

By the by, I never intro'd myself. ADK Forever stands for the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. The most beautiful place in the world.

Have fun!

I have been wondering what your name means. Tell me about these mountains. Is there hiking available?

OMG, the park is 6.1 million sq miles of gorgeous country. Check it out at: About the Adirondack Park

It has 46 mountains over 4,000 feet in elevation. Climb them all and you become a member of the 46er club! I did 7 in one day and thought I was gonna die!

It is amazing just how big it really is. Sometimes the bugs get bad but, when I look at the downsides of those warmer locations I figure I'll deal with the bugs! I was in Louisiana and Florida for a few years and the flatness of those areas drove me crazy.

Gott run. Enjoy!

I love love love the Adirondacks, parlicularly, the Keene Valley. I scaled Noonmark and thought I was going to die, but there nothing like going to the diner afterwards for some homeade pie. :-)

Hi Middleground!

I did Sawback, Gothics, Upper and Lower Wolfjaw and Armstrong in the same day. (Oops, I misspoke. I did 5 not 7 in one day.) My legs felt like they were going to fall off. Especially after we went skinny dipping in a cool brook. I never thought I'd be able to walk out. But, I keep going back. And leaf peeper season is coming!

I don't want to take over this thread so do you mind If I PM you sometime? I'm hoping to take a little trip to Lake Placid and want to do some hiking beofre the snow hits.

BTW, welcome DiAnna to DP. I'm sure you'll love it here as there are so many great regulars.
