| 3rd time's a charm? Hello all!
Well, the first political forum I joined was summarily shut down by it's petulant owner.
The second one I joined (and recognize a few names here that post there) is nothing more than an attack-the-other-guy all the time site. It's frankly gotten tedious as hell.
So now here I am. In looking over some of the topics here before I joined, this looks like a place to have a civilized political debate and discussion.
I identify as liberal, but that isn't a hard and fast classification. Definitely more than a lean, but not rabidly so. Let's just say that for many years I was a GOP voter, but over the last 15 years or so have come to find many (if not most) of their policies and platform wanting when viewed through the lens that is my life.
About me: 40, married, a 2 year-old daughter, 2 dogs, and a woodchuck that lives under my shed. I am fortunate enough to be able to live a decent lifestyle (IOW keep the missus happy and the kid in clothes), but am by no means rich (at least by the American definition, certainly not by McCain's definition LOL). I know I'm better off than 99% of the world's population and I'm grateful for that. On economic issues, I tend to be one that thinks that government has a vital role to play, but that it shouldn't be taken to the extreme. On social issues, I live and let live for the most part. I don't think you should stand on someone's neck just because they made a stupid decision or have different beliefs. God knows I've made enough myself.
So, hopefully I've found a forum that likes to discuss issues without getting into the constant pissing contests.
Oh, and my mood will almost always be sleepy. In order to keep the missus happy and the kid in clothes, I work a GAWD-awful schedule...you'll see most of my posting between midnight and 6 a.m. if that tells you anything.
See ya around!
